Maverick Bikes & Cafe

Maverick Bikes & Cafe Maverick Bikes is not your average bike shop – it’s 501c charitable organization dedicated to the mission of bikes, bike education, bike safety, & youth cycling.

We have given over 200 bicycles since the fall of 2020 to children without means. In August of 1988 Craig & John DuBois opened a new bicycle shop in Leesburg Virginia. Over the years the store grew and was relocated to the Virginia Village Shopping Center on Catoctin Circle in Leesburg Virginia to a 7000-square-foot store and 3 locations in Leesburg, Wi******er and Ashburn. The store was known for being a knowledge base for all things cycling and an advocate of local amateur racing. After a 31-year run the business was closed suddenly and the staff was left jobless almost over night. There for a time it looked like Northern Virginia would have one less independent bicycle dealer and would lose all of the institutional knowledge. At the golden hour Robert Bagnell stepped in with an agreement with the Maverick Group and the original staff was rehired and is in place at 32-C Catoctin Circle home of our beloved shop with a new name and a new mission. Maverick Bicycles & Cafe, the oldest bicycle shop in Loudoun lives on to serve another day and is now a 501c charitable organization dedicated to the mission of bikes, bike education, bike safety, bike lanes, youth cycling and racing, and cycling as alternative transportation. Maverick Bicycles & Cafe supports the community. We take your parts and old bikes in donation, you get a charitable receipt. You buy bikes, parts and services from us and all proceeds go to making your local cycling experience safer and better. Bring us your bike – any bike – and we will help you make it better. You need a bike, we’ve got one: new and used. You bring us your bike questions, we will drop knowledge on you. You have bike needs, from parts to equipment to mechanical and safety questions, we will solve them. And soon you can stay a while and sit in our Café and enjoy a coffee, some wine, beer, or sample our amazing food options built specially for cyclist. Sue Hefler and Pierre Pelletier will still be here VO2 testing, pro-fitting, coaching and running the Computrainer Studio. We will be offering classes and videos on bike safety, mechanic’s corner, community group rides, and even auctioning some amazing bespoke resto-mod bikes to support our mission. The old name may be gone but the great community, staff and atmosphere of service remain alive and well though Maverick Bicycles & Cafe. To our 55,000 customers that made our shop your home we are still here and looking forward to helping you out on any and all of your cycling needs. To the new folks out there looking for a shop give a try and we will bet there is something here that will fit your lifestyle. Our staff is enthusiast and excited about this new beginning and we want to share that with all of you.

The weather is looking good this weekend for the 1725 Gravel Grinder, unlike last year when it was cold and rained all day! Seen here is Maverick Bikes & Cafe mechanic, Gary Moon manning the service tent at the Philomont Store rest stop. We will have our tent back out again this year in the same spot, manned by Justin Hanger. Stop by and say hello and if your having issues, you will meet him anyway. Good luck to everyone and thanks for supporting America's Routes.

The 2021 Armed Forces Cycling Classic Clarendon Cup also known as the king of criterium bicycle racing is the second race of the series and the hardest. One hundred kilometer race always held on one of the hottest weekends of the year just to add some sting.

I have a Felt B16 triathlon bike that I bought several years ago from BO, then had it upgraded by Justin. I'd like to sell it. Do you guys broker sales?
Justin still wrenching' there?
Is there anyone at this shop that can assist with fitting and recommending a road or triathlon bike?
A big shout out and thank you to you, Rob Bagnall, for opening up the new shop! I love the community outreach approach and the idea of having the cafe is great. Can’t wait to check it out!
