Friends of Loudoun Mental Health

Friends of Loudoun Mental Health Friends of Loudoun Mental Health is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that assists Loudoun County residents with chronic mental illnesses live independent lives.

We provide direct service programming to prevent homelessness as well as educational and awareness initiatives designed to foster mental health and to eliminate discrimination and misinformation about mental illnesses.

Hey Loudoun, I just got details about a food drive being held by the Dulles Area Association of Realtors, It is tomorrow from 10A to 12 Noon. Here is the link to the information. If you want to contribute, you can drop off an item at the location noted. But I'm sure you could also get it to your favorite realtor who can turn it in for you.

As you will see, this drive benefits Mobile Hope, LAWS, and Friends of Loudoun Mental Health.

Good morning. Today's Mental Wellness Challenge is the last one. This has been a month of focusing on your own mental well-being. This has been very much like the instructions on a airplane, to put on your own oxygen mask before helping others in case of an emergency. Common sense, right? If you don't take care of yourself, you will not be able to assist others around you.

It is the same with your mental well-being. If you don't take care of your own mental health, taking time for yourself, being kind to yourself, loving yourself (or LEARNING to love yourself), you will not be able to truly be there for others who may depend on you, who appreciate your support, and who love you.

Heed today's challenge. Pick at least on of this month's challenges and repeat it. In fact, go back through the posts and do the plan all over again. How about making a list of all the things, big and small, that bring you joy - things you can accomplish in a few moments or even a few hours. You are worthy of a time investment in yourself - for YOUR mental wellness.

And thank you again to #blessingmanifesting for providing this wonderful program of challenges.

These acronyms represent different types of therapy available to help deal with various issues. DBT is Dialectical Behavior Therapy, CBT is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. ACT is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Each one deals with different issues and mental illnesses. Take a moment and check each of them out if you are struggling. Arming yourself with the right tools can mean greater success with your therapy.
