“I have been facilitating the Prison Fellowship Angel Tree program here for many years, and it is very much appreciated by the inmates. The program goes smoothly, and Angel Tree is very accommodating. This program assists in fostering good parent-child relationships while the parent is incarcerated. Obviously, maintaining these family relationships is extremely important. Angel Tree provides a welcome lifeline between prisoners and their children, and is a much-anticipated highlight of the year in many lives.” – Prison Chaplain. #AngelTree #PFAngelTree #ItStartsWithAGift

Another of our Prison Fellowship Angel Tree Parent Day events, this one in Texas. We're assisting incarcerated men and women with signing up their children for Angel Tree Christmas, and educating them on how to parent from prison with Angel Tree year-round.

“Angel Tree let my family know that I was still there no matter what. Angel Tree really paved the way for that, and let my children know that they were cared about, were thought about, and were important enough to receive the gifts from me.” Incarceration can take a toll on families and children. Our Prison Fellowship Angel Tree Christmas program helps ensure children with incarcerated parents receive a gift and a personal message of love from their parent in prison.

“Angel Tree, Thank you for ‘all’ your people’s services, thank you for what your able to do for our children! For the past 6 years, my daughter Abbie has been able to receive gifts from a couple churches near our hometown. I truly thank you for all you’re doing! I hate it that I’m away from my daughter, but with your help, over these past years, she knows through your help that I love her, and I thank you, I truly do! Stay safe during these troubled times! Could you please pass the word to the church that helps out with the gifts? Their services are greatly thankful! God bless you all!” – David #AngelTree #PFAngelTree #incarceration #family

“Thank you to the Sago Palm Re-entry Center Florida Department of Corrections administration staff for supporting the recent Prison Fellowship Angel Tree Parent Day. Your assistance helped the incarcerated individuals see the Prison Fellowship Angel Tree program as not only a gift to their child, but as a parenting tool to connect and building relationships with their children.” – Laz Lopez, South Florida Field Director for Prison Fellowship. #Florida #AngelTree #incarceration #hope

August is Prison Fellowship's 45th Anniversary month! Keep on eye on the Prison Fellowship page to see all the content we're sharing this month and celebrate with us! #PF45years

Celebrate with Prison Fellowship throughout the month of August in honor of our 45th Anniversary! From our President and CEO, James Ackerman: “One week from today we will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the founding of Prison Fellowship – praise Jesus! The vision that our founder, Chuck Colson, had for serving those affected by crime and incarceration is alive and flourishing. I have fond memories of driving Chuck around Tennessee when he’d visit the state. And the time I spent with Chuck during those visits cemented in me a commitment to being a part of that vision. A volunteer and donor at the time, I certainly couldn’t have imagined the plan that God had for me in eventually becoming the president and CEO of Prison Fellowship. But I am daily humbled and honored to be at the helm of this great ministry. There is much to be excited about at Prison Fellowship today, including the continuation and growth of the work that Chuck started so many years ago.” #prisonfellowship #chuckcolson #rememberthoseinprison #incarceration #hope #vision #PF45years

“I always questioned God a lot. Like, God, why would You put me through all these things for nothing? There's nothing good that's gonna come out of this. But as He was pushing me more towards camp, I realized God sent me here as a kid and let me grow up here and had counselors build relationships with me and pour His love into me, so that I could come back and do the same.” – Kerri. #AngelTree #PFAngelTree #camp #relationship #hope

“I wanted to thank you and the Angel Tree Ministries for letting my grandchildren attend camp last week. It was FANTASTIC for them! They have talked about it constantly and already asked to go again next year. They both loved all of the activities – many of them neither had ever done before (horseback riding, archery, etc.). They were excited to meet new friends and talked about the staff being so nice and fun to be around. Again, thank you and good luck with the camp in the future. See you next year!” – Mary, a Grandmother

“Almost without fail the gentlemen who have applied for the [Prison Fellowship] Angel Tree home contacts are deeply grateful. Whether the Angel Tree outreach is their first or consecutive quite often they will mention to us Chaplains here the wonderful response of the child(ren) to the extra measure of care shown to them by those beyond their family and previously unknown to them. Only in the counsels of eternity shall we know the full measure of His working through the labors of your hearts and lives.” – Prison Chaplain. #AngelTree #PFAngelTree #hope #ItStartsWithAGift #incarceration #prisonministry

General information

An estimated 1.7 million children have a mom or dad in prison. The number is huge – but so is the opportunity. Angel Tree is a ministry that reaches out to the children of inmates and their families with the love of Christ. It seeks to transform the lives of these families and to reconcile them to their Heavenly Father and each other. In Matthew 18:5 Jesus said, “Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.” There are children right in your community who are among the most at-risk children in the nation. Angel Tree provides an opportunity to connect with those families and begin ministering to them at Christmas and then continue through a variety of year-round ministry opportunities.
