The days are running together and I’m trying to remember *exactly* when this dirty baby last had a bath 🤔🤷🏼♀️🛁
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! If we can make it through the quarantine of 2020 (alive), then we can do anything 🙌🏼
It was either lose my mind at home trying to find my way another minute in this new homeschool gig 🥴🤪 Orrrr head to an empty beach for some [much needed] #socialdistancing. Thankfully for my kids, the beach won out 😎🌊
Today is Day 1 of homeschooling around here and already, we need ALLLLL the Lavender candles! 💜🤪 Seriously.
So, (for my own sake), here are some NEW *Lavender Seas* pillar candles, ready to provide some added relaxation & peacefulness 💜🌿🌊
ALL Lavender Seas candles and Room Sprays are on SALE right now!
[Lavender Seas: wild lavender fields by the sea, sprinkled with a dash of sea salt]
A few old & iconic #outerbanks beach cottages for your viewing pleasure this weekend 🏠🌊
[Also our current entertainment:

Thanks for the pics @reddawndesigns !
This sweet bride had to change her #outerbanks destination wedding plans and she is taking it in stride 💙
[Bridges to the Outer Banks are currently closed, allowing only residents on the islands]
I’m curious: what plans have been turned upside down for you and what are you doing to help cope in healthy ways? I think sharing some of the things that are helping us each to maintain some normalcy, and have peace & joy would be helpful to us all 💙
For me, I’m trying to maintain some of my normal routine where it is possible... still making candles 🕯 [my candle studio is definitely a place of peacefulness for me🏡], spending time in the garden preparing it for the new season 🌱, also cutting some of the spring blooms to make small arrangements for the house bc beautiful things here & there bring me joy 💐, doing some arts & crafts with the kids [we bought clay and some new markers and colored pencils and are ready to color some online printables!🖍], and also catching up on less-fun projects like bills & taxes [it feels good to check some of those things off the list too!✔️]
Now it’s your turn! 👇🏼👇🏼
One of a kind VINTAGE CANDLES are a [literal] ✨bright spot✨ and I’d say, these days more than ever!
A *new* green & white batch is live at:
[Let’s determine to continue on in the things that bring us joy, even if they’re small things like admiring antique glassware 😉]
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!☘️
*NEW* batch of green and white VINTAGE CANDLES hits the website tomorrow morning (St. Patrick’s Day!) at 9am 🙌🏼🕯💚🍀
Well, let the insanity begin! 🤪
[and you know we have reached new levels when I’m already jumping in on the kids TicToc dances 😳🤷🏼♀️💃🏼]
What’s your plan to get through (and stay sane) while kids are home and life is upside down??
[On a more serious note, I want to THANK everyone who is able to continue supporting small businesses, like The Outer Banks Candle Company, in this time ☺️]
When all of this passes, we’re all gonna need a beach vacation! Here’s an idea: come to the #outerbanks 😉😎🏖🌊
[Also, this gorgeous beach photo was taken by @amandahedgepethobx and was included in March’s #obxCANDLEbox 📸🤗]

She snapped the beautiful beach photo used on all of the labeling, and most importantly, the frame-able photo print included in the box! 📸🤩🌊🙌🏼

I’m a little late to the party in posting this montage of all the Candle of the Month subscription boxes that were curated in 2019, but it’s still nice to see them all in one place!
So, I’m gonna call this piece “A Year in Candles” since you can start at the top left corner with January and span the image clockwise and watch the seasons change with the candles!
Wouldn’t it be fun to receive an #obxCANDLEbox in the mail each month and with it, just the right candle for THAT season? [not to mention a really cool special gift that is often created by another #outerbanks artisan!]
More subscription box info two posts ago... or at:

Which candle fragrances would you like to see in these beauties??
Something NEW & SPECIAL coming very soon. And that’s all I’m gonna say about that for now 🤐😉
I finally jumped on board with Instagram’s HIGHLIGHTS feature and added a whole bunch of special topics to browse... behind-the-scenes candle making & the studio where the candle magic happens 🕯✨, iconic #outerbanks scenes and backdrops (including lots of hurricane footage), creative projects that inspire me, the [big & crazy] family behind this small business, and probably most importantly —->>> an “Arrow Says” button where all her most hilarious baby conversations are saved in one place (bc that’s why most of us are here anyway, right?!😂)
If you’re not familiar with the HIGHLIGHTS feature, head on over to @outerbankscandleco on Instagram and check out the buttons at the top of the page to watch a slideshow of images & videos in a whole bunch of different categories!
These sweet, personalized votive candles were favors at a special bridal shower this weekend 🤗👰🏼✨

It’s pretty quiet on the #outerbanks this time of year... and I’m not mad about it 🌊🐚
[But at the same time, I’m super excited for summer! 😎🏖 Love the different seasons for entirely different reasons]
If you love fall and winter candle fragrances, then now is a great time to go snatch some up, since they’ll all be disappearing into the *candle vault* on Friday! 😱
[And at that time, I’ll sell surprise boxes of seasonal candles to clear out the remaining inventory and make room for spring candles! 📦🤗🌸]
Driftwood Vanilla candles are still on SALE and some of the other candles about to disappear are:
Pumpkin Almond Biscotti
Stock up now at:
Do you see it?? 👇🏼👀☕️
When you snag a vintage tea cup candle (like this Fiestaware), you get to burn & enjoy your candle... and then reuse your cup for a relaxing cup of coffee or tea in your favorite *special spot* 🌊🌾
[And by the way, this is a stationary photo (hence no wave movement in the background) that is blowing my mind with the *rising steam* thanks to a fancy new app I just got 🤯🙃]
I think this remains one of my FAVORITE product shots of all time and it makes me laugh every time I see it with it’s dark shadows & tipped-over store-bought pot of herbs 🙃 (also see the cropped & edited version 😳💥)
This pic is my favorite for a few reasons... one is partly bc I have a deep appreciation for authenticity and the portrayal of REAL LIFE, over a manufactured & perfected version (maybe it’s just me 🤷🏼♀️)
The other reason I love this photo (and it’s counterpart) is what it represents about life. If I’m honest, there are plenty of ugly and imperfect parts of my life, and my story, that I’ve wished could be lightened up or cropped out!
But then I stop and think about the stories and the *pictures* I love best in this life. And without a doubt, they’re the imperfect ones... the ones filled with twists and turns, messes and brokenness that God, in His redemptive power, has made into something beautiful.
I love beautiful things. It’s how God made me. I love colors and sunsets, art and blue ocean water, to name a few. And I love designing, decorating and creating beautiful things. But I’m also learning to find beauty in the process (while the things are still messy) and not just celebrating the finished product or end result (such as the condition of my house on any given weekday afternoon 🤪)
And so I’ve been thinking about this photo in all of its messy, imperfect glory. And I realize that there’s something beautiful about the story it tells. It speaks of creativity in process... it reflects humble beginnings and resourcefulness... and it also represents a beautiful friendship between this candle-maker and the photographer-friend that have brain-stormed, hustled and laughed our heads off at these photo shoots 😂📸 And most of all, it reminds me that:
“He has made everything beautiful in its time...” -Ecclesiastes 3:11
HAPPY 14th BIRTHDAY, ELISA!! (*Leafy*)
One of my favorite Leafy quotes came when I was in the hospital after delivering Arrow. You asked to stay overnight to help me care for the new baby. You got up with her every time she woke and rocked her, sang to her and walked her around. The next morning I thanked you for staying up and helping me and you said,
“No, THANK YOU for letting me!”
You have LOVED babies since you were a baby yourself, and it speaks to your thoughtful care and concern for people. For years you would say that you wanted to run an orphanage when you grew up. I don’t know where your journey will take you, but I do know with all of my heart that God is going to use your caring and nurturing nature to bless many people... and I’m guessing lots of babies ☺️👶🏼🐣
Remember the “Disney Vault”??
When I was a kid, Disney movies would be released for purchase (on VHS 📼😳) for a limited time... and then they’d disappear into the Disney Vault until an undetermined date 😱 And we would rush to snatch up our favorites while we had the chance and add them to our video collection (I think I may still have a box of those 🤔)
Well, something similar happens in the world of candles every year. And believe it or not, it’s not just a sneaky “supply and demand” marketing ploy! (I’m not that clever 🙃)
The thing is, there is simply not enough room in my beloved candle studio (or enough hours in the day) to make ALLLLL the candles, ALL year long. This means that some of your favorite seasonal & earthy candles are about to be locked up in the *candle vault* until next fall (eeeek!)
Driftwood Vanilla was the new fan fave of the season and so, in honor of its upcoming disappearance, you can snag this one on SALE right now while they last!
[Driftwood Vanilla: an earthy blend of fresh hardwoods mingle with aged vanilla & sprinkled with a dash of salt air!]
[Did I sound convincing enough and make you wanna race to snatch yours up? 😆]
You know I love working with other local #outerbanks artisans & businesses, and it has been such a pleasure for me to work with Milk Street Soap Co!!
I truly enjoyed collaborating with them for February’s #obxCANDLEbox which included a hand-crafted bar of SOAP from their Citrus Collection🍊🍋🛁 >>> but I’m even more happy about the relationship we’ve begun forging in the process ✨
In the process of working together, we found that we share a lot of commonalities... each running small creative businesses specializing in high quality, small batch products inspired by the beauty of the barrier islands we call home and fueled by the exceedingly special community that surrounds us (all while juggling growing families) 😎🌊
Milk Street Soap Co. is locally owned and operated by Kim and Roger Meacham. They pour their hearts into each batch of organic and sustainable soap & skin products that they make. And it shows. Their soap is beautiful, fragrant, all-natural and as they remind us: *habit forming* 😉
If you received one, I hope you love it! And if you haven’t, then check them out and fall in love with their products at:
Kitty Hawk, NC
All candles poured by hand in Kitty Hawk, NC and filled with as much delectable fragrance as the wax will hold! The Outer Banks Candle Company does not have a store front, candles are available on the website and at fine shops along the east coast.
