Amador Angel Tree Program

Be on the lookout for red and yellow Angels on Angel Trees throughout Amador County, pick one angel or several. The Angel Tree Program provides local families in need gifts of new clothing and/or toys for children ages 0-17 years old. On each tree you will find Angel tags that contain information about children in our local community that need a little Christmas magic.

🎄Times are tough for many this year but if you’re able, please pick an Angel off an Angel Tree at one of the participating locations in Amador County: Save Mart, Safeway, Walmart, CVS, Ione Market, Ione Pharmacy, Castle Oaks Golf Course, Denny’s, Mel's Diner.

🎄Drop unwrapped items off with the Angel tag attached to:

• Nexus Youth and Family Services located at 601 Court Street, Ste. 210 in Jackson

• Upcountry Community Center located at 19386 Highway 88 in Pine Grove

• Camanche Lake Community Center located at 4240 Camanche Parkway North, #4 in Ione

🎄For more information, questions or additional Angel Tree locations, contact Nexus Youth & Family Services at (209) 257-1980.

Continuing our self care spotlights!!

Samantha from CASA shares: “When it comes to self care, nothing brings me more peace than being out in nature – hiking in particular. Focusing only on the incredible sights around me and listening to the sounds filling the air me puts me at such ease. Conquering a gnarly mountain and getting in a few miles is also always a good feeling too!”

Hey there!

The menu this week is meant to engage all the senses. Fall produce is in its glory and mimics nature in so many ways. The orange, red, yellows look like the fall tree foliage + the incredible sunsets. The richness in colors also a guarantee that the nutrition is significant for this season and what our bodies require. Our goal is to gather together as many organic seasonal vegetables + fruits as we can and create a delicious collaboration that nurtures your body and soul.

There will be a bounty of fresh organic vegetables + fruits for you to purchase at MLE and use in your own kitchens in the months ahead. Don't forget the amazing local olive oils, pastured eggs and holistic herbal products to help support your sense of well being. It is so important to prioritize this now more than ever!

Thank you so, so, much! With your generosity and our donation, we were able to send Nadine with Nexus Youth & Family Services a check for $626. and Janet with Fiddle Town Community Center Food Bank $329.!! It is so appreciated!

We hope you are all able to be outside these last few days (before the rain), to enjoy this incredibly warm perfect fall weather! We spent much of Sunday moving wood, which is one of my most favorite tasks in the world. "Cut wood, carry water" always opens up the log jams in my mind and psyche, and what Zen presents itself feels familiar, like it's been waiting there trying to get my attention for eons. I promise you some wood moving does the trick (especially when we need to find balance and a sense of purpose).

We look forward to seeing you Saturday! Thank you over and over!

Lucy's Spice Box has graciously chosen to support Nexus programs this year. She has a delicious menu set up for this Saturday! Check out her website and order your meal for this Saturday. You will be supporting a local business while helping out youth & families. Thank you so much to Lucy and the generosity of our community!!
https://lucys-spice-box.square.site/

Hey there!

Well, we figured that getting the menu out early was not a bad idea given all the distractions this week. Writing about foods ... the process of formulating a dish, checking in with the farms, our inventory and then laying out the dish gives me a sense of something good coming to our minds and hearts at this moment. We hope it also gives you pleasure to look forward to sharing our dishes.

Thank-you to everyone who donated additional funds towards our Nexus Youth and Family Services holiday giving cause! With this and our 10% from the square store, we will be able to start to help Nadine and her coworkers get much needed supplies and gifts purchased. This in and of itself makes sense.

We are sticking with comfort foods for a bit (forever). House made pastured egg pasta will share a delicious layering of house made ricotta cheese, organic autumn greens and the last of the red/green tomatoes for our lasagna plate.

Side1: Pastured Pork, lamb + beef Meatballs an optional side to add this or any dish.

We have loads of salad turnips as we love them! They will appear in our Indian Pakoras box ... lightly fried in avocado oil with a spiced chickpea batter, Cilantro-herb sauce for dipping.

The whole Roast Broccoli, Cauliflower and Fingerling Potato entree' is great by itself. (this dish would also make a lovely, shared vegetable side to any of our dishes) Or you can add one of the optional protein sides.

Side2: lemon-garlic roast pastured chicken as a protein option.

Please feel free to send any questions!

That is all I can think to share right now other than THANK-YOU!! Lets hope for some drastic shift (positive + healing) in the worlds energy after this week! Plan on organic veggies, pastured eggs, healthy pantry items and some amazing herbal skin care products at MLE from here on out!

Sending lots of love + light out into the world!
