Many Americans associate the Memorial Day weekend with festive barbecues, the outdoors, and weekend road trips. Their holiday images often have a stronger symbolism of hotdogs and hamburgers instead of wartimes and heroes lost. We have a shared duty to insure this most holy federal holiday maintains...

Looks like next weekend Santa will be 'coming to town'. The plan is to try to get him to Waterford and Paeonian Springs on Friday night (12/11) and then Hamilton on Saturday night (12/12).

We'll try to provide some route details early in the week and then look for a Facebook 'heads up' when we are actually leaving the station each night (hopefully between 5-6pm each night).

Well, we don't know the dates, routes, or times yet, but we will be touring Santa thru town this December.

We DO know that this year is a bit different than years past - in the interest of keeping everyone safe, Santa will not be able to stop for pictures or give out candy canes. Disappointing we know, but it's the only way we can make sure the kids can see Santa while we keep them, Santa, and our fire fighters safe. Hope everyone understands.

Please stay tuned for details

On Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, the U.S. came under attack when four commercial airliners were hijacked and used to strike targets on the ground. Nearly 3,000 people tragically lost their lives. Because of the actions of the 40 passengers and crew aboard one of the planes, Flight 93, the att...

Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic, we have FINALLY decided that we must cancel this year's Chili Cook-off. We've loved the momentum the Cook-off has gained, but we have to put the health of the community first.

Please make sure you set aside some time on October 18th (remember - 3rd Sunday in October) to watch some football, grab a drink, and eat some (lots) of chili.

And don't worry, the Hamilton Fire Chili Cook-off will be back and better than ever in 2021!

What a great point (and great suggestions) - we need to remember what this holiday is supposed to be about. And that get's much harder with most ceremonies being canceled.

This Memorial Day, and always, we REMEMBER, HONOR, and TEACH about those who have served and sacrificed for our freedoms and for the families they left behind.

Well in case you hadn't noticed, our social media presence is.........wait for it.......pathetic

In light of the communication challenges the current pandemic has created, we thought we should TRY to improve that.

So, our first attempt will be to apologize for not getting out our annual 'where can you find us' letter. Unfortunately, thanks to COVID-19, most of the events we take part in are being canceled or re-scheduled, so the letter would be out-of-date by the time it got to your mailboxes.

So far, events that are still on or have been rescheduled already:

Waterford 5k - rescheduled for Sep. 12, 2020
HVFD Chili Cook-off - still Oct. 18, 2020

Everything else??? Stay tuned.

Be safe.
Follow the CDC's recommendations.
See you all soon.

It looks like the weather is going to play along tonight - so as of now, we are planning to bring Santa thru Paeonian Springs and the Waterford subdivisions off Charlestown Pike tonight.

We'll be leaving the station between 6-7, so keep your eyes (and ears) open!

(And if anything changes, we'll post it here)

UPDATE: Santa will only be visiting Waterford Elementary tonight!!

We will re-schedule our Paeonian Springs and the rest of Waterford - tentatively this Tuesday, 12/17. Check back here for updates.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but once again the weather is not cooperating.

Santa's ride thru Western Loudoun tonight is NOT looking good. The plan had been to hit Waterford and Paeonian Springs, but with the current weather forecast, even if Santa went out, there probably wouldn't be many onlookers.

We ARE still going to Waterford Elementary School with Santa tonight as their event is indoors.

Please check back here to see if there's a break in the weather or to keep up with our re-scheduling of the remaining rides.

Things are looking good for Santa's midnight (6pm) ride! We'll start by taking the jolly old elf down towards Twin Oaks and Northwoods and then u-turn back thru town, hitting the south side of Colonial Hwy first. Once we get to Hamilton Acres, we'll turn back around and hit the north side of the street.

Hope to see lots of people out!

General information

The Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department has been serving since 1944. We are honored to protect the town of Hamilton. The Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department held it's first meeting on July 26, 1944 with only 16 members present. In the monthly November meeting in 1944 a motion was made to begin the search to aquire a fire truck. In January 1945 a motion was made to write a letter to The Middleburg Fire Company to ask about aquiring their siren. This aquasition wasn't met and in March of 1945 a motion was made to purchase a 3HP siren which was to be mounted on top of the Bucks Service Station. At the April 1945 monthly meeting a motion was made to purchase a new fire truck and in May, the following month, the request for that new truck through the War Production Board was denied due to the fact that the population wasn't large enough. In June 1945 the War Production Board did finally allowed the purchase of the new truck. In October of 1945 a motion was made to find a location for a fire house, and it was noted that the Sanders property was for sale for $2,000.00. January 1946 was the very first meeting in the new firehouse and the following month, Feburary, the first PEPCO electric bill was paid, the bill was $.20 cents. In 2006 the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department and the Hamilton Volunteer Rescue Squad purchased land just outside of the town limits to the east of town. Together the two departments formed the Hamilton Safety Center.
