Hybrid vs. In-person… still?

By Steve Matthews, FaithX Senior Associate Consultant What? Can you believe it has been almost two years since we first heard the words “COVID-19?” So much has changed, so many lives lost, so many fatigued health-care workers, school teachers, parents… pastors and priests. It has definitely been a loooong season calling us to adapt to new challenges. My feelings can be summarized in the poem below....

Black people are about to be swept aside for a South Carolina freeway — again

This is what we mean when we say, “Systemic Racism.”
At The FaithX Project, one of our major initiatives is called “Mapping and Mitigating Systemic Racism.” We’ve documented it with GIS mapping in urban, suburban, and rural settings and in every setting we see dozens of issues lining up dramatically along racial and ethnic lines. In each occasion the chances of this happening by chance is well over a billion-to-one.

South Carolina destroyed Black homes to build I-26 and I-526 without much engagement. The state vowed to engage residents for a new project, but it still plans to take their homes.

by the Rev. Ken Howard "FaithX delivered a powerful, revealing presentation on "Mapping Systemic Racism in Rural America." FaithX's maps revealed gaps in opportunity in our region among Native and Nonnative people: economic, educational, access to health care, and more. Tools for Data-Grounded Discernment During Leadership Transition

By Katie Romano Griffin,Faith Board Member and Associate Minister at Cedar Lane Church Over time, all religious communities evolve to be more homogeneous. Mine is no exception. Leadership transitions, while often a time of grief and uncomfortable change for a congregation, are one of the best times for a congregation to realign its mission and purpose with the needs of the larger community and transform from what my colleague Abh Janamanchi calls a Sacred Society (closed to larger community needs) to a Holy Community (a place of love and holy experience connected to the greater community)....

I am working on a new webinar to introduce my friend Ken Howard to pastors who are looking for direction in reviving their church and breaking into their community. Change happens and sometimes it is hard to keep up with all of it. We will be online May 15th at 10 AM CST. You can pre-register today.
