MARG Foundation

MARG Foundation The Marg Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt non-profit educational corporation, promotes the awareness, understanding, and appreciation of Hindu heritage.
(1)

The Programs of the Foundation are aimed primarily at the young people – in particular, those brought up in non-Hindu environment. They will also benefit parents and other adults who often have to answer the questions of their children about their heritage as well as those associated with children’s religious/cultural educational programs. Those from non-Hindu backgrounds, who are often intrigued by Hindu traditions and for whom Dharma remains a big question mark, will find the Program quite educational, illuminating, and inspiring.

Sacred Mother Nature Seminar Oct 2016

09/08/2016

Join us at the Interactive seminar on
SACRED MOTHER NATURE
(DIVINE PRAKRITI)
at the
HINDU TEMPLE OF METROPOLITAN WASHINGTON
Adelphi, Maryland 20783
Saturday, October 29, 2016 ♦ 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Hinduism is an Eco-friendly tradition. Unlike the Abrahamic traditions which regard Nature as the domain of Human beings, Hindus, and most indigenous traditions, regard everything around them to be pervaded by a subtle divine presence, may it be rivers, mountain, lakes, animals, flora, the mineral world, the stars, and planets. Hindu Dharma values the power of the natural world (Prakriti प्रकृति) as the five great elements (mahābhūta महाभूत): earth (prithvī पृथ्वी); water (jala जल); fire (agni अग्नि); air (vāyu वायु); and space (ākāsh आकाश). Daily worship employs and evokes these five elements/powers.
The seminar will attempt to enrich our awareness and understanding of the enormous responsibility that is ours -and has been all along- from different perspectives, ancient, and contemporary. Specifically, the Seminar will explore
 Nature, composition; and the role of the world of nature in the universe (samsāra) – in particular the human life;
 Relationship, and appropriate balance, between the world of nature and the human beings;
 Principles and guidelines to promote the mutual respect and survival of healthy eco-system as well as the welfare of the human beings;
 Global warming; and
 ‘Dos’ and ‘Don’ts’.
This will be accomplished through a roster of qualified speakers, including Swamini Svatmavidyananada, as well as an open discussion panel of young concerned individuals.
Target Audience: All those who are concerned with the decline in the quality and quantum of natural resources as well as those concerned with the reality and harsh effects of the global warming.
