Celestial Manna is a faith-based nonprofit organization that supports over 20,000 people monthly in DC, Maryland, Virginia, and beyond. Our primary mission is to help our neighbors with food insecurity.

Delivering, providing, serving. It's a sweet thing to volunteer and dedicate efforts to bring food to those in need. Our volunteers do that daily. They pick up the loads, establish points of distribution, find the people that needs to be serve and deliver. They are amazing!

Flowers have a positive effect on moods. Study reported feeling less depressed after receiving flowers, and demonstrated a higher sense of enjoyment and life satisfaction. We witnessed with elderly people and the many recipients we give flowers to.

The best way to celebrate the AFRICAN AMERICAN MONTH is by sharing savory recipes. Today: Cornbread
1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick)
1 cup milk
1 egg
1 1/4 cups yellow, white or blue cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Steps
1- Heat the oven to 400°F. Spray the bottom and sides of an 8-inch square pan or 9-inch round cake pan with the cooking spray.
2- In a 1-quart saucepan, heat the butter over low heat until melted.
3- In a large bowl, beat the melted butter, milk and egg with a fork or wire whisk until well mixed. Add the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt all at once; stir just until the flour is moistened (batter will be lumpy). Pour batter into the pan; use a rubber spatula to scrape batter from bowl. Spread batter evenly in pan and smooth top of batter.
4- Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Serve warm.

Celestial Manna is a 501(c)3 organization operating under the guidance of Scripture: "He it is who sees justice done for the orphan and the widow, who loves the stranger and gives him food and clothing. (Love the stranger then, for you were once strangers in Egypt.)" (Deuteronomy 10:18-19, NJB) "… there will never cease to be poor people in the country, and that is why I am giving you this command: Always be open handed with your brother, and with anyone in your country who is in need and poor." (Deuteronomy 15:11, NJB) "Then it will be their turn to ask, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or lacking clothes, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?" Then He will answer, "In truth I tell you, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least of these, you neglected to do it to me." (Matthew 25:44-45, NJB)

On Saturday, Celestial Manna participated in a PopUp Pantry at Severna EP Church in Pasadena, MD. We served over 100 families over 500 people. We also celebrated Volunteer Appreciation Days. We thank our wonderful volunteers for all they do to support and feed all of the needy families in Ann Arundel County.
So generous. Prevents food waste! Great helper to hundreds.

I would venture to assume that THOUSANDS of people on Fort Meade have benefited from the programs extended to the military from Celestial Manna. So many people have expressed gratitude to me for volunteering as a distributor of food, but really , it is a blessing to help. So many people are able to experience a little bit of help and relief from this project and I am so grateful it exists.
We're grateful for foods from Celestial Manna and basing our meal planning and any further food shopping on meals based first on using all donations we receive as foundations for the weekly meals. Thank you!
