PTL, my daughter is going to get into a medical detox to bring her down off of M**h and alcohol. Please pray for her!

How is everyone doing? I hope there have been no new cases in our group. Let me know if any of you test positive or are sick. Lee and I will test again early Sunday and if clear we will attend services. Unfortunately we will not be able to attend the wedding, was looking forward to that!

08/04/2021

I thought I would let you know that Ron Johnston tested positive for Covid and if you were at last nights meeting, you possibly was exposed. He wanted to let us know.

Hey team, had a lady that I spoke with before who needs prayer. Her name is Pam and her son was kicked out of a recovery home for using and she hasn't heard from him in a couple days and is worried. She is a recovering alcoholic as well and needed someone to talk with. She was very upset and crying as I talked with her. I think that she will attend our meetings when we get started back up. I prayed for her and she calmed down. I let her know that we would look forward to helping her.

07/06/2021

No meeting tonight or next Tuesday due to VBS at our church.

06/03/2021

Lee and I are going out of Town Monday to see my Mom in florida whom I haven't seen in 2 years because of my health issues. In route, we will see Noahs ark in Kentucky. We should be gone somewhere around 10 days.

If you are struggling in your sobriety here are 5 things to think of. Our Pastor preached a message on this Sunday referring to our faith. It was a great message. I thought it was a great message for your sobriety. Who is counting on you to stay sober or keep clean maybe control your anxiety? Your kids, your spouse, your family. Are you at your darkest hour? Could you be close to a breakthough? It's up to myself to overcome my addiction. Don't shrink back, grow out of that space. Go to a meeting, get a sponsor. Be careful what you hear. Stay away from people and places that will draw you to things and behaviors that will make you fail in your addiction. I will post the message from Pastor Mike please take the time to watch it's a great message. Join us Tuesday 7pm at CLCC for our recovery group.

With or without recovery, temptation will show up in your life. It showed up in Jesus’ life as well.

Often times, when we give in to temptation, it leaves us with a life that isolated us from God. Our poor choices can leave us feeling depressed, lonely, and full of shame.

How do we break free from temptation?

One way is to let Christ’s light shine on the darkness of temptation.
We can let His light shine in our lives and reveal our sins.

Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12

More good news: God will always provide you a way out of temptation.
Always.

I really like Carl, great addition to our group. He is witty, intelligent and funny! We have such a great group of leaders, if we ever take off, we could potentially lead several groups with no problem. God is in control and up to something.

Jn 10:10 says that the thief comes to kill, steal and destroy; I have to come that they may have life, and have it abundantly. If you are not experiencing the abundant life, we can help you to find it through a relationship with Jesus Christ our higher power.

How?

Through a relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Higher Power, and by working through the 8 recovery principles and the Christ-centered 12 steps, we can find freedom from our hurts, hang ups and habits.

If you’re curious what it means to struggle with Chemical Dependency, below are just some of the characteristics to watch for:

- I drink or use in excess to get drunk or high on a regular basis.
- I feel powerless to stop using my drug of choice.
- I tell myself that I will quit, but I never follow through.
- My addiction causes pain to myself and to those around me.
- My use has cost me close friends, key relationships, jobs, or other important parts of my life because I have made my drug of choice the most important thing in my life.
- Using used to be fun, but now it is something I feel like I need to do just to get by.
I get angry when loved ones tell me I have a problem.
- I try to hide my addiction from others.
- I think that if I could find the right amount, combination, or drug of choice, my problems would go away.
- I feel convicted that I have a problem, but I try to push that feeing away in order to protect my addiction.

If you are struggling, find a group today on the CR Group Locator on our website and plan to begin your road to recovery!

If you are struggling with recovery we are here for you. Group meeting are at 7pm on Tuesdays at Cresent Lake Christian Center

Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore them gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted. Galatians 6:1 NIV

Step 12 is a great reminder that other people can benefit from the work Christ has done in our lives. All the effort we put in not only benefits us directly, but it builds our ability to help those around us in a healthy way.

Who is in your world that you can help today? Maybe today is when you can take that first courageous

Jesus, You paid too high of a price for me to continue to give into temptation. So please change the way I think and renew my mind and my heart. As I reflect on the pain and suffering You endured on my behalf, draw me closer to You. Show me what it means to love like You, and give me the strength to forgive like You. I want Your will to be done in my life. Amen.

Calling on the name of Jesus shouldn’t be our last resort. It should be our first response.

So let’s choose to speak the name of Jesus over every need today. There is no other greater power or more assuring calm.

Jesus. Only Jesus. Forever Jesus.

Can I whisper a little hope into your heart today?

One rejection is not a projection of future failures.

It’s good to acknowledge the hurt, but we can’t see it as a permanent hindrance. We must choose to move on from the source of the rejection, without letting it shut us down in that arena of life.

It has already stolen enough from your present. Don’t let it reach into your future.

No, your book proposal wasn’t a good fit for that publisher. But that doesn’t mean you can’t write. You don’t have to have a published book to be an effective writer.

No, that friend didn’t stay in your life. But that doesn’t mean you aren’t loved and capable of connection.

No, you didn't make it through the day without a drink or a fix. But that doesn't mean you are are not able to continue on your journey to recovery.

No, you didn’t get that job opportunity. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be other interested companies.

So today, replace the negative talk that will hinder you. Replace it with praises for God, who is able to deliver you.
