The 2019 Dulles Day Festival and Plane Pull is a full day of fun for the entire family. The day starts with the Run the Runway competition in the early morning, the Plane Pull and Kid’s Pull competitions throughout the day, and a whole lot of food, games, exhibitions, and live music in between.
In 1992, Retired Deputy Chief Joe Hurtuk woke up with an idea to raise money for Special Olympics by pitting raw strength against 82 tons of metal. One year later, Plane Pull was born, and 11 teams helped raise $15,000 and started a national phenomenon.
Today, the Dulles Day Festival & Plane Pull has grown into a full day of competition, food, and games raising over $2,000,000 for athletes with intellectual disabilities in Virginia alone.
Join a team or cheer from the sidelines for the strongest minute on the runway as teams of 25 attempt to pull an 82-ton FedEx Airbus A320 or United Boeing 757 airplane 12 feet in record time.
Think you’ve got what it takes? Sign up and put your team’s determination to the test. All you need is 25 people who can raise $2,000 as a team to qualify for entry. Awards are handed out for fastest pull, heaviest team, most money raised, and more.
