Happy Thanksgiving!

With everything going on this year, we wanted to highlight what we are grateful for this Thanksgiving. 💛

WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR the residents of Dodge County that come together this time every year to support us. We are solely funded by you, and without you, we couldn't help as many people as we do. You are awesome!

Share this post and let us know what you are grateful for!

New Food Insecurity Data Highlight Minnesota’s Continuing Disparities and the Need for Multi-Sector Solutions

"Rates of food insecurity have varied week to week, but, by July 21, 37% of Minnesotans reported some level of food insecurity."

The Dodge County Food Shelf is distributing more food than ever to meet the great need for food assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Help us help them! Our goal is to be a stable income source for local programs, like the food shelf, so they can focus on people and services.

Many of our partner agencies are seeing an increased demand for their services and our goal is to be a stable income source for them so they can focus on people and services.

We have raised over $14,000 this past month with our community giving drive. Our goal is to raise another $36,000 by the end of December to meet the increased ask from our local nonprofit partners. We are asking for your consideration in making a gift of $50, $200, or whatever is comfortable for you during this time.

Our board members really stepped up this year to organize our mail giving campaign. We usually have 20-30 volunteers to help us put together envelopes to send to the community, but with COVID-19, we could not all get together. ☹️

Each board member took home brochures, giving forms, and envelopes to piece together and a couple board members organized them before bringing them to the post office. THANK YOU to our volunteer board members for your flexibility and willingness to help! 💛

And thank you to our community members who have donated. We have raised $14,000 so far! We appreciate you!

It's Give to the Max Day today! #GiveMN

“We’ve seen the generosity of Minnesotans all throughout 2020, and we’re hoping to see our neighbors come together again on Give to the Max Day,” said Jake Blumberg, executive director of GiveMN. “Each year, we are amazed to hear stories about how
every dollar, whether it be $10 or $10,000, makes a real impact to so many communities across our state.”

The funds we raise today will go towards making sure that families in Dodge County have basic necessities met.

Thank you for your generosity!

Did you know? 2020 is an Especially Good Year to Give!

For taxpayers who itemize their deductions, the CARES Acts temporarily removes the cap for cash contributions made to qualified charities, like the United Way of Dodge County, previously limited to 60% of a taxpayer’s adjusted gross income (AGI), and allows these taxpayers to deduct contribution amounts up to 100% of their AGI.

Our world and our community have gone through some significant challenges this year. We have many nonprofits right here in Dodge County that haven't stopped delivering exceptional services, even during difficult time.

Each year we disburse at least 83% of our funds raised to support community-wide programs. So far, the requests for funding are far more than the previous years.

We are asking for your consideration in making a gift of $50, $200, or whatever is comfortable for you during this time. Our goal is to raise $100,000 and your gift will help in achieving this goal.

Today is World Mental Health Day. 44 million people in the U.S. live with mental illness.

This is a reminder to take care of your mental health. If you’re stuck at home because of COVID-19, keep busy with hobbies, try out arts and crafts, pick up an old musical instrument, organize family game nights, and step outside for fresh air and exercise. You can’t take care of others unless you take care of yourself.

Contact United Way’s 211 help line to inquire about mental health resources. #WorldMentalHealthDay
