Denton Area Model Railroad Club

Denton Area Model Railroad Club Our club has two modular layouts; an HO and a N-Scale T-Trak Layout. The layouts are set up at the two DFW Train shows in September and January.

Our club is part of the North Texas Council of Railroad Clubs which hosts train shows in Plano and Fort Worth every year. The Denton Area Model Railroad Club was founded in 1986 by a group of people who wished to exhibit a modular HO scale layout at a Dallas area train show. The club simultaneously came into exist and became a member of the North Texas Council of Railroad Clubs, known also as the Metroplex Council. The club is legally incorporated as a “not-for profit” corporation. Today there are 42 active members who get together periodically to share knowledge and experiences, all having a common interest in model railroading. Our club now has a HO modular layout and a N modular layout. Both layouts are set up at all Metroplex Council shows, usually held in September and January. Other setups have been by invitation for special events, such as Christmas exhibits at the Denton County courthouse or the Denton Center for Visual Arts and last year we were invited to set up at the North Texas State Fair in Denton. In addition, events are held from time to time in our homes on our private layouts. Regular meetings consist of a business session followed by a program, such as a video or a presentation by a member or a guest.

2020 OKC Train Show Announcement
July 1, 2020

To: OKC Train Show attendee and Vendors

It is with regret that due to the limitations placed on us to comply with the Covid 19 restrictions, we have decided to cancel the 2020 OKC Train Show. It would have been necessary to reduce the available booths to provide a 10 ft. Open space between each Vendor. We would also be limited to a maximum of 450 paid attendees in the building at one time to meet the social distance requirements. We feel that these restrictions would create an unnecessary hardship on our Vendors as well as the show.

It's a shame that a popular train layout is being replaced by a Starbucks.

The trainscape will be removed from the hospital to make way for a new family support space that includes a Starbucks, playground, courtyard and respite area.

This morning was the confluence of a couple of things that don't happen very often. Decent weather and no plans. I took advantage of this and got out to do some train shootin' before the weather turned colder andmy family committments in the afternoon. With knowledge of an eastbound stack train coming towards Fort Worth, I headed towards Decatur. After chasing him to Rhome, I headed to Justin and met up with fellow fans Troy and Ken to shoot the new GE's on the test track there. We also caught several other movements before packing it in.

Some pics I took of the N scale groups layout at the Plano Train Show.
