make your own mask or some to share with the people you love. here are links with step by step patterns for both no-sew and sew options below.

*fabric face coverings & gloves must be washed daily* dirty PPE does you no good. keep it clean. if you are reusing single use masks, put them in a ziplock and wait a few days between uses for them to disinfect naturally*

you can also use a bandana, or scarf if you have one (fabric is proven better than nothing). some people are making them out of old bedsheets or blue shop towels. its totally okay to wear your playa mask out & about too.

*2 no-sew options (one uses a paper towel, the other uses a handkerchief)

(2) http://blog.japanesecreations.com/no-sew-face-mask-with-handkerchief-and-hair-tie

*4 sewing patterns (including one with a filter pocket for your legit mask to be reused, and even a kid size... all tested & perfected by makers i trust):

& finally, don't wear masks 24/7. only around outside people. get fresh air daily. bacteria and some flus are killed by UV sunlight and hate ventilated rooms. closed off rooms are bad, open windows and time outdoors is good. take a walk outside in not-busy areas/times. get some air in between.

Frida Kahlo paints while bedridden In around 1603, a poet had a decision to make. With a plague underway in England, he could choose to answer to fear, or answer to the muse. Luckily for us, the writer – one Mr. William Shakespeare – decided to put pen to paper (quill to parchment?) and turn out

FIGMENT Dallas has been cancelled to prioritize the safety of our guests, artists and volunteers. We appreciate all the support & dedication to the concept, but for the time being FIGMENT will be on hiatus, in stasis, marinating on new creative projects that will eventually blossom and come to fruition when the time is right. We believe in your creativity and the resilience of humanity. Although we all have to make adjustments and learn new habits, we are hoping to soon overcome our world's present challenges by remaining flexible, patient and making the most of our resources. let's mitigate exposure to large groups for now. but try to get some sunshine this weekend as we all learn to practice safety protocols and social distancing measures.

don't panic, be patient, friends. keep being creative. & wash your hands

In an effort to break the man-machine limitations and intimidations of the analog video dimension, a scaled-down, physical iteration, poised for self-discovery and therapy is to be placed into a public domain. This iteration is to include color televisions stacked atop one another for a towering effort. On display is the interaction between the user and a dedicated video processing device. The end result is one that is completely unique to the user. No two experiences will be the same.

FIGMENT Dallas Art Spotlight: 2026

2026 is a large interactive cube brought to us by Eric MacGorman. As with his other work, 2026 is created out of found recycled materials with the purpose of making something beautiful and fun out of objects otherwise discarded. Encouraging participation from all who happen upon it, there are buttons to push surrounding a tall mirror ball on a post in the middle, and finished out with LEDs to supply that almost-sci-fi nighttime glow. Measuring in at 10' wide and 20' tall (!!), there's no way to miss it!

Come play with 2026 at FIGMENT March 14!

ATTN ARTISTS! we are NOT having a site meeting tomorrow, January 25th. The curators will be hunkering down and reviewing applications/creating placement tomorrow. I was made aware that this was in the project timeline, however it is not correct. We are happy to meet at the park at another time, and will keep you posted if there is a site check #2. We apologize for any confusion.

*Call-for-Artists* Figment Dallas is now accepting interactive project submissions!**********FIGMENT is an all ages, outdoor art festival taking place in Uptown's Reverchon Park. This free family-friendly, immersive, participatory and interactive art experience will occur for one day only from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. FIGMENT seeks to continue its mission to offer free, inclusive and participatory art to entire communities with its locally organized event in Texas. By removing the barriers of museum and gallery walls with no entrance or booth fees, we blur the lines between those who create and those who enjoy art. FIGMENT is a grassroots effort, organized and run entirely by volunteers as a gift to our cities because we believe in the aspirations and mission of FIGMENT. FIGMENT demonstrates that the arts can be: participatory, bursting with creativity and completley free, born from the desire to share imagination and invention between artists and the public. FIGMENT is considering artist submissions for new works, completed works, and previously exhibited works. Performance art that is participatory and interactive is also highly sought after. The curators invite proposals for interactive art of all mediums from local and regional artists, those across the United States and internationally. Your FIGMENT project can be submitted by an individual or group of individuals. No vending, no climbing, no ads, no fire please. Projects will be included based on creativity, interactivity, feasibility, and structural integrity where applicable. Before you submit your proposal for an interactive project, please take a moment to read the FIGMENT Dallas Artist Guide pdf to get the necessary guidelines to help you plan your project. Want to know more about the Figment Dallas event on October 20 at Reverchon Park?
