Dear Friends,

We continue to hold you all close to our Hearts during this health crisis. The Flame Foundation’s teachers continue to touch the lives of their students through our digital dance education programs via Zoom.

Words from Our Key Teaching Artist, Dancer/ Choreographer, Antonio Arrebola:

Flamenco formed an integral part of my culture and life. Thanks to my parents’ support of my dance education, I was able to discover within the realms of myself what flamenco entails: Love, Discipline, Strength, All Human Emotions we can express. I am forever grateful for growing up in Andalucía, Spain and studying with its great artists. Now I work towards transmitting my flamenco passion to students here in Dallas, Texas.

Today is North TX Giving Tuesday Now! Help Dallas Dance into the Future!

Donate what you can!! Thank you 🙏🏻 ❤️💃🏻

Ochre House Theater

Tickets available Now! Runs June 19 - 29, 2019. LA MUERTE DE DON QUIXOTE written and directed by Ochre House Theater Artistic Director, Matthew Posey, and in collaboration with the 2019 Dallas Flamenco Festival is a flamenco theater fantasia inspired by Miguel de Cervante’s DON QUIXOTE. LA MUERTE DE DON QUIXOTE imagines the last day of Don Quixote and explores the human condition of love, loss, success and failure in the face of his greatest giant, Death. This collaboration features the magnificent flamenco artists Antonio Arrebola (Bailaor) as Don Quixote and Delilah Buitrón Arrebola (Bailaora) as Dulcinea, as well as the incomparable flamenco musicians Alex Conde (Composer and Pianist), José Cortés Fernandéz (Cantaor) and Alfonso Cid (Cantaor and Flutist) to create a magical night of theatre and a celebration of the world’s most iconic Knight Errant in literature. As Don Quixote says in LA MUERTE DE DON QUIXOTE, “The world is a cruel place, and who shall stand up for broken families, the weak, the defenseless, and the voiceless, if not myself.”

Flamenco. Language. Arts. Music. Education.

In 2009, The Flame Foundation was founded by flamenco dancer and theater actress Delilah Buitrón and culinary chef/musician Troy Gardner. Inspired by a vision to bring flamenco to a wider audience, The Dallas Flamenco Festival was launched in 2009. The festival featured high quality flamenco performances and workshops lead by professional visiting guest artists. Since 2009, The Dallas Flamenco Festival has received international acclaim with interest from many professional flamencos from Spain and around the world, providing performance and training opportunities for flamenco oficionados in Dallas.

With the support of Ochre House Theater, the Office of Cultural Affairs, and our generous patrons, The Dallas Flamenco Festival has grown exponentially. In addition to the flamenco workshops and classes, the festival now features children and adult student performances lead by professional flamencos, and a theatrical flamenco collaboration with Ochre House Theater.
