Ross, Lisa & Mac took a field trip to @owenwoodcampus in Dallas to meet the new Director of Neighborhood Initiatives, Katie Pryor 💖. We are giddy with glee to have her on board. She has such a big heart, and we are excited to see her do her magic alongside Rev. Josh Esparza. ✨Other Highlights✨: 1. Seeing new renovations in collaboration with Aspire, an Owenwood partner, who provides cradle career learning programs for students of all ages - from early childhood to adults pursuing careers. 2. We poked our heads into the computer center and said 👋🏽 to Angela, an aspirational player with Aspire! 3. Seeing the 🌱 and growth of the Owenwood Farm 4. Seeing the prep work and space for Diapers, Etc. 👶 5. Taking in the positive colorful artwork 🖼 on the walls around campus. 💙

What a view of Owenwood Farm & Neighbor Space from Saturday, where they were able to figure out a safe way to do a diaper drive during these trying times. 200 families served and a whopping 20,000 diapers distributed. WHOA. When there's a need and a will, there is a way. We are deeply appreciative and impressed by the Owenwood leadership think tank in making this possible. What amazing partners you are! 👨‍👨‍👧‍👦💙👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🍼🏡👩‍👩‍👦

Drone shot of our first drive through diaper distribution on Saturday. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!

Osteosarcoma Institute

A Brief Message brought to you by the Osteosarcoma Institute on this Giving Day!

Our mission is to cure Osteosarcoma. With that said, we need a breakthrough.

The doctors, researchers and advocates who make up the Osteosarcoma Institute have all experienced the devastation of osteosarcoma firsthand through their work, families, and friends. Treatments for this disease have not progressed since the 1970s.

Please consider supporting the Osteosarcoma Institute this Giving Tuesday to help us dramatically improve the outcomes for relapsed and metastatic Osteosarcoma Patients. Link: https://osinst.org/donate/

With Love 💙,

The Partners Council of Owenwood Farm & Neighbor Space & the Leadership Team of White Rock United Methodist Church are excited to announce that we have received a 3-year grant from the QuadW Foundation to further our work in Far East Dallas.
The QuadW Missional Interns have partnered for the last four years with White Rock UMC, working with youth and families in the Owenwood community. QuadW supports the efforts to develop a full-service campus addressing the causes/effects of poverty in the 75228 ZIP code of Far East Dallas in four key service gaps: recreation, education, food and medical deserts.
The $250,000 per year grant will jumpstart our renovations so that our incredible community partners: Hope Supply Co., Diapers, Etc., White Rock Community Church, Dallas United Crew, Simple Church, North Texas Food Bank, Aberg Center for Literacy, Linden Grove Theatre Co., Grow North Texas, and Ferguson Road Initiative can continue their programs and expand services for our neighbors. This grant will also help us realize our dream of new partnerships to create programs for our senior neighbors, a large community garden, as well as after-school programming for the students of Conner Elementary.
We thank the QuadW Foundation Board for making the Owenwood Farm & Neighbor Space and Far East Dallas a part of Willie’s legacy.

What a solid trip to Chicago for the Annual ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) meeting. We covered a lot of bases! Played Where's Waldo with our logo around the convention center (NICE!), got to meet our 2019 Conquer Cancer Foundation Young Investigator, Michael Kinnaman (now you're stuck with us!) who's at Memorial Sloan Kettering and being mentored by pal, Paul Meyers, took meetings and obligatory photos with our friends and brains pushing provocative research, and spent some quality time checking in with everyone. Every year, we look forward to our check-ins and discoveries with our Sarcoma community. We couldn't be more grateful for these folks. Michael sent QuadW a letter after our introduction at ASCO, and his words are the best reminder of why we can't and won't stop! WELCOME TO OUR WILD & KOOKY KREW! We love all of you!

We are still spinning our wheels after yesterdays Cycle for Survival ride in Dallas. We can proudly say that we exceeded our $100,000 mark and will be riding into this year's goal to support a Sarcoma fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering. With the help of the brave and the bold, Bob Harbeson, who led and wrangled up the QuadW team members, and other supporting teams including PH Rocks, The Lone Star Cavalry, The Pedal Pushers, Orange Crush, Jeff's Jets-Miami, Jeff's Jets-Dallas, Hopper, and #teambennett, the QuadW Foundation tips our hats off to you for cranking your gears and being all-star fundraisers. We are deeply touched by the personal stories and connections that brought our teams together to make a grander impact. Our hearts are warmed and fired up to see your efforts utilized at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. 💙

Did you ASCO? Well, we had a successful trip to Chicago lol'ing and getting down to business with some of our favorite folks and we're giddy to share! We kicked off the trip at the SARC (The Sarcoma Alliance For Research Through Collaboration)meeting that primarily focused on OSTEOSARCOMA (double tap that), where Mac and our buddy Lee Helman, who traveled from Los Angeles' Childrens Hospital were recognized. We hugged Dr. Bob Benjamin and Rich Gorlick of Houston's MD Anderson, where Willie used to do his treatments. We caught up with our University of Michigan pal, Beth Lawlor, visited with our Young Investigators old and new, Yvonne Mowery of Duke University, MD Anderson Andy Livingston, and Steve Dubois of Dana Farber at the poster session, AND we met our newest YIA addition, Adam Durbin, also at Dana Farber, at the Conquer Cancer Foundation's donor lounge. oh AND ALSO caught up with Bill Tap of Memorial Sloan Kettering at the Albert, and broke bread with Brian Crompton who traveled from Boston's Dana Farber at dinner. Are you winded from all the excitement? Chicago and wind...WE ARE!

General information

Willie Tichenor, in whose memory the WWWW (What Would Willie Want) Foundation, Inc. was founded, died in 2006 of osteosarcoma at the age of 19. The board of eleven is atypical, to say the least. Seven of its members are in their twenties. Among the ranks are an oncologist, a minister, artists, actors, musicians, students, and philosophers. The composition and nature of the advisory board reflect Willie’s M.O. – he was a showman and a prankster, a master of both hilarity and sincerity. He related to people of all ages and he brought them all together. He made the ordinary extraordinary, the mundane becameamusing, and desperation looked far more hopeful. Willie’s hope became our hope. He led us through his illness. We saw through Willie’s hopefuleyes and became hopeful ourselves. Out of pain and loss, Willie’s family and friends established the WWWW Foundation, Inc. (QuadW), redirecting the lens of hope that had focused on curing Willie to finding better treatments and cures for sarcoma, as well assupporting his passions of transformative mission and higher education. Willie wanted the best and required the best. He questioned the status quo and took risks, acting with a sense for the right and always with a sense of urgency. Best rememebered is his spirit. It was nothing short of contagious. Because Willie was unorthodox, QuadW is taking an unorthodox approach to philanthropy. We are serious, critical, humorous and energetic, or as we have said in our mission statement, we employ “the light-hearted but whole-hearted” way that Willie would have wanted.
