This is what it’s all about!!!! SPCA of Texas Fur Ball 2019. SPCA of Texas

Back in April, Dallas Police officers found Coco tied to a 10 pound, rusted chain with an infection from the buckle of her collar cutting into her neck. The officer persuaded the owner to sign over Coco to their custody, and she made her way to the SPCA of Texas for treatment. From the get go, Coco was a happy girl and she was eager to get the medical care and socialization she so desperately needed.

Coco's past life is far behind her and this carefree girl is always happy to meet new people and especially go out for a round of fetch! This girl can chase tennis balls forever. She's done so great on outings from the shelter, but for some reason she's been overlooked since she's been available for adoption. If you're looking for a playful pup who loves cuddles and going on adventures, Coco is your girl! Come meet Coco today at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas.

Animals like Coco do not have a voice and they can’t ask for help. You can help animals like her by making a gift to the SPCA of Texas on North Texas Giving Day.

Abri Salum of Salum Restaurant donated a chef prepared dinner for 8 in your home to Paws Cause auction. Lucky winner was Joe Buskuhl who came as Mary Spencer's guest. The dinner was this past Monday night at Joe's beautiful home and I wanted to share some pictures. The menu was outstanding; Country Pate on Crostini, Phyllo cups with roasted elephant garlic and goat cheese, Mini beef & vegetable empanadas. Cream of sweet corn soup, lump crab cake, chili oil, Baby kale and yellow beet salad with fresh strawberries Burata and raisin walnut crostini. Grilled beef tenderloin, buttermilk herb mashed potatoes, green peppercorn cognac Demiglace and grilled Broccolini. Dessert - Mini bourbon bread pudding with creme Anglaise and double chocolate brownie w/ banana whipped cream. Is your mouth watering yet????

A great big thank you to our good friends at Operation Kindness! They took in 23 adoptable cats from the SPCA of Texas' Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center to help us make room for more pets of evacuees from The Gulf Coast following Hurricane Harvey. These are cats we took in last Friday from The Cattery Cat Shelter in Corpus Christi, and we know they'll find great homes soon! As of this evening, we're now caring for 58 pets of evacuees from the coast and are preparing to care for hundreds, or even possibly thousands more, as we work with Dallas officials to care for pets near the mega shelter that is opening tomorrow. We'll continue to post updates here, thank you for staying tuned!

September 17th is North Texas Giving Day..... What a great day to give back to our furry friends that have touched all of our lives in so many ways but touching the lives of the ones that need it now.

Around 9:30 this morning, the SPCA of Texas’ Animal Cruelty Investigations Unit helped an individual who had the best of intentions who had become overwhelmed with the care of 47 cats. The animals were found inside of a one bedroom apartment in Dallas, and appear to have health issues such as eye discharge, hair loss and matted fur. We removed them today and will now give them the care they need to hopefully be ready for a home soon. They will require much needed medical assistance, as well as lots of TLC from staff and volunteers. Please consider making a donation to the SPCA of Texas @ https://www.spca.org/gift, your donation helps us to save even more lives, each and every day. Thank you.

This is why we support the SPCA of Texas!!!! Who agrees?

Today, under the authority of the Balch Springs Police Department and the Dallas County District Attorney's Office's Animal Cruelty Unit, the SPCA of Texas took custody of 155 cruelly treated animals from a property in Balch Springs. The animals included 107 cats (five of which are deceased), 40 dogs, three doves, two chickens, one finch, one deceased parakeet and one guinea pig. Dozens more deceased animals were found on the property, however, their bodies were so badly decomposed that it was not possible to remove them. Most of the animals were cruelly confined inside of a f***s-filled, urine soaked house on the property. The three doves, two chickens, two cats and one dog were found outside the property. Of the animals inside the property, 29 dogs and approximately 30 cats were housed in crates and cages that were encrusted with f***s and soaked in urine. The remainder of the animals were found roaming around inside the house, which was also covered in f***s. The odor of the urine and f***s was so strong, it could be smelled from the street. The stench was so overwhelming inside the house that staff had to wear respirators to safely remove the animals. The animals appear to have varying health issues, including eye discharge, ear discharge, hair loss, matted fur, long nails and were covered in urine, f***s, ticks and fleas. At least one animal was missing an eye, several others were emaciated. Right now we have a fundraising match opportunity, and this couldn’t be needed more right now. An anonymous donor is matching all gifts up to $50,000. Our shelter is bursting at the seams with unwanted and abused animals who need food, water, shelter, medical care and a new family to cherish them. Your love and compassion have meant so much to us in the past. Through this matching opportunity, YOU can make an even greater impact on the lives of helpless animals who deserve a second chance. *Towels and plastic double food and water cat dishes would be immensely appreciated during this time.
