Thank you GFO Home! We are so excited for this partnership, our work would not be possible without support from community organizations like you! #DCAC #ThankfulThursday

When GFO Home was founded by Glenn Gehan in 2018, giving back to charities in the communities where we do business was part of the plan. Now, after experiencing unprecedented success in less than three years, GFO’s teams in Austin and Dallas have selected charities to support that match our company values.

We’re thrilled to announce our first Dallas nonprofit partner: Dallas Children's Advocacy Center.

In addition to providing a major cash donation, GFO’s employees will regularly volunteer with DCAC and create opportunities for our vendors and partners to support them as well.

The mission of Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues.

DCAC is the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse cases. Their number one value is that children come first in all that they do.

Learn more about the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center at www.dcac.org.

Dallas nonprofit launches art exhibit at NorthPark Center to help raise child abuse awareness

Live Auction Artist William Atkinson shares with the The Dallas Morning News how his piece connects with DCAC's mission:
“The word ‘Rescue’ holds a prominent space in this piece. Some people may experience the gift of rescue when in a time of need. At DCAC, families are served in their moment of need and throughout their healing process,” he says.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. Parents sometimes worry that asking about su***de may make it more likely, but that actually isn’t the case.
For children who have a hard time admitting they need help, it sends the message that a parent cares very much about them and that struggling and asking for help is okay.

Warning signs to watch out for:

- Isolation from friends and family
- Problems eating or sleeping
- Mood swings
- Reckless behavior
- Dropping grades
- Increased use of alcohol or drugs
- Giving away belongings
- Talking about feeling hopeless or trapped
- Talking about being a burden to others or not belonging
- Talking about su***de or wanting to die
- Writing or drawing about su***de, or acting it out in play

If you are in crisis or are experiencing difficult or suicidal thoughts, call the National Su***de Hotline at 1-800-273 TALK (8255)
