Ladies First directed by our past VFW State Teacher of the year Christian Emigh have supported the post abd Auxiliary for a long time by singing at our Holiday parties, Memorial and Veterans Days and Wreaths Across America. Please support them in whatever way you can - either through participating in the auction or by making a donation. It will be a great experience for them to participate in this concert series and visit Pearl Harbor.

The award winning Ladies First Choir of Concord High School has been invited to represent the State of California and perform at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 2021 at ceremonies commemorating the 80th Anniversary of that tragic day. The CHS Choir Boosters are hosting an online auction on June 26, 2021, to help families defray the costs associated with travel and lodging. Participation in the auction is as simple as clicking this link:
https://paybee.io/vevent.html?action=openrsvp...

Interested parties may also donate directly There is a donation link on the CHS Minutemen Choirs homepage: http://www.chsminutemenchoirs.net

This truly will be the trip of a lifetime for these young women.

It is with heavy heart to share the news of the passing of our dear Marilyn Peck, Department Secretary/Treasurer , Past Department President and friend to many today.

Her family was with her at the time of her passing and had said their goodbyes. I know you all will join in with prayers for them during this sorrowful time.

On behalf of Department President, Robyn Kuznik.

The Black Diamond Crucible (BDC) will take place on 28 May 2021!

The BDC is a one of a kind event planned, coordinated and executed by Reconnaissance Marines and Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsmen led by LtCol Mike Hudson (USMC Ret.) in direct support of the Reconnaissance Foundation and our mission! If you choose to donate, your generosity will go directly in support of our Gold Star Family Retreat in 25 days and towards our Recon Wounded Teammate Retreat in August 2021!

Our teammates and supporters will conduct a freefall parachute jump into Bay Area Skydiving, then conduct a 25 mile foot movement to the famous Oakhurst Country Club for a post movement banquet.

For those who would like to physically participate, you can participate in a portion or all of days events. If you are not a trained sky diver, we have the ability to conduct tandem parachute operations where you will be strapped to a highly trained parachutist. If you would like to participate in the foot movement, you can do so in 5, 10, 15 miles increments or the entire course.

Please contact Mike at the POC info on the flyer for more info!

During #womenshistorymonth I am highlighting women in Concord making a difference in our community. Meet Loretta Masnada. Thanks to Loretta's vision and leadership, over the past four years, Contra Costa Blue Star Moms CA Chapter 20 has partnered with all of the high schools in Concord to install and dedicate granite memorials honoring former students who died in combat fighting the Global War on Terrorism. Fundraising for additional memorials continues for high schools in East County: http://www.ccbluestarmoms.org/HighSchoolMemorials.php Thank you to Loretta for bringing this remembrance to reality so that generations to come will know of the sacrifices that were made for our freedoms by these fallen Heroes.

Just wanted to share this news article from the Elks recognizing Denise Silva’s work to support local Veterans. Some of you have donated or helped to source furniture in the past for this program. Denise and her trusty team work really hard to collect and deliver furniture and household goods to newly housed Veterans and their families. A big thank you to them all!

Denise Silva, Chaplain of Walnut Creek, Calif., Lodge No. 1811, knows a thing or two about giving back to her community. Ever since Denise learned about the Welcome Home Kit program at the Elks National Convention in 2017, she has stayed busy providing kits of household supplies to veterans througho...

We hope that you enjoy our virtual Wreaths Across America ceremony. Please take a few minutes to watch.

A big thank you to everyone who helped or purchased wreaths. We were able to double the number of wreaths we laid at Memory Gardens this year which is amazing during this pandemic. Today, we remember, honor and teach.
