BACN's Book of the Week: "Right Now, I Am Kind"

Written by Dr. Daniela Owen
Illustrated by Gülce Baycik

Description: "In the third book of her Right Now series, Dr. Daniela Owen, Ph.D. helps children learn what it means to be kind and aware of other people.

Sometimes children just want to think about themselves, but we live in a world with lots of other people. It's important to be aware of and kind to all of these other people. This book is a guide for children to help them understand why being aware is important, and what actions they can do to show kindness. "

Book of the Week: "My Shadow is Pink”

Written and illustrated by Scott Stuart

Summary: "My Shadow Is Pink is a beautifully written rhyming story that touches on the subjects of gender identity, self acceptance, equality and diversity. Inspired by the author’s own little boy, the main character likes princesses, fairies and things 'not for boys.' He soon learns (through the support of his dad) that everyone has a shadow that they sometimes feel they need to hide. This is an important book for a new generation of children (and adults alike) which exemplifies the concepts of unconditional love, respect and positive parenting."

Book of the Week: "Mango, Abuela, and Me"

Written by Meg Medina
Illustrated by Angela Dominguez

Summary: "Mia’s abuela has left her sunny house with parrots and palm trees to live with Mia and her parents in the city. While they cook, Mia helps Abuela learn English, and Mia learns some Spanish, too, but it’s still hard for Abuela to learn enough words to tell Mia her stories. Then Mia sees a parrot in the pet-shop window and has the perfecto idea for how to help them all communicate a little better. Here is an endearing tale that speaks loud and clear about the love that binds families across the generations."

Friend and family the Bay Area Crisis Nursery is in need from those that can donate, they do so much good work for babies :). If you have some spare change or a few bucks it will go to very good use at the Nursery.
I love it when a plan comes together. A friend has a gently used Pak ‘n Play and a family at nursery is looking for one. Personal delivery later today, I hope. Right, Heather Goza, Toni Marie Cei

I am sitting here in disbelief reading the article from the Catholic Voice on Sister Ann's dismissal! There is absolutely something drastically wrong with the Board to have treated Sister Ann the way they did. It is Sister Ann that has built the Crisis Nursery and has kept it running for all these years. It is her presence in the community that has brought in so many donations and fund raisers for the nursery. I realize that Sister is getting up there in age; however, it should be her decision to leave not the Boards. There should not be any age discrimination in this day and age especially if her performance had not changed negatively. The Board should have hired someone equally as qualified and dedicated to be Sister Ann's Assistant until such time that she would like to retire. In the meantime this person would/could learn all the inns and outs of running the nursery. Making contact with local businesses for their Week of Caring events which make the County aware of the good work being done at the Nursery which prompts donations. The Board should hang their heads in shame over this because I don't believe they are acting Christ like in their decisions. God forgive them for they know not what they do! Carol Weber
Want to join me in supporting a good cause? This #GivingTuesday I'm raising money for Bay Area Crisis Nursery and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. And on Giving Tuesday Nov 27, Facebook and PayPal will match a total of $7 Million in donations. Thank you for your support.
