“His Will Be Done”
God gave me a vision many years ago to do ministry but I had no idea what He was calling me to do. I knew I was supposed to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I did. Jail ministry, nursing home ministry, street ministry, thrift store ministry, anything I could do. However, I felt like it was more than that. For years I prepared myself to do ministry, even graduating with a Masters degree. Afterwards, I had no direction. I applied for many places but always received the Dear John rejections. After a year of being discouraged and feeling rejected I decided to do what God had been asking me to do the whole time... to do ministry. I am called to do the work of an evangelist. Saved at an early age, I had an understanding of God but at 5 years of age, I didn't fully understand the magnitude of what it meant to serve God. At 12 years of age I quit riding the church bus and wondered away from the faith. By the age of 15 the only important thing to me was to fit in somewhere other than the church. I started using drugs, drinking, smoking ci******es, lying, stealing, and even gambling. I became highly addicted to co***ne by the age of 16. My parents had divorced and I was a wreck. It was tough for me. I was arrested for the first time at age 18, but was in trouble as a youth as well. I was arrested many times after that. I knew God was speaking to me through it all but it wasn't cool to be a Christian at that time, so I kept running. Finally, God got my attention and I surrendered to His will. He took the desires away to do drugs, drink, smoke, cuss, gamble, and even to have s*x outside of a marriage. In short, He cleaned me up and set me on solid ground. I was the least likely to succeed, but God had other plans. I graduated college and went on to graduate Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree. I am so grateful for what He did for me. Now, I share my testimony to give others hope. It is because of Him. It is what He did. He got me through it!
