Even turning sides becomes a skill when it comes to the inter-house English turncoat debate competition. The event, held on August 5, was conducted in the block-and-tackle form of debate, where the participants frequently spoke on topics like elections, women leaders and followers, privatisation, celebrities as role models, reservation, examination and artificial intelligence and then spontaneously turn sides and contradicted their own facts.

MMRSC: The Valedictory Function

To heal will require real effort, and a change of heart. Keeping this in mind, the MMRSC was given a valedictory wave at the Kangra Amphitheatre. Mrs Rajbir Sandhu, RSC Schools' Support Director- South Asia and the Gulf Region, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The evening demystified the world of semi-classical music with the riveting performance of Mrs Dhanashree Pandit. This was followed by an enthralling session by Ms Deepa Kiran who used "Stories as Bridges" to connect us with ourselves and the world around.
The delegates from various Houses showcased their talent by presenting a multicultural facet to the theme, "Heal The World... Make It A Better Place." Performances in the form of dance, vocal representation, drama, etc. were brought forward by the students of Class 8 with great fervour and enthusiasm. The gathering was then addressed by Mrs Sandhu as well as the Director, Mayo College whose invigorating words encouraged the students to live in harmony with nature and to fulfill the civic responsibility of passing the legacy of this planet to our future generations.

#Did You Know?

#Daly College #Alumni in a Cricket #World #Record.

Six batsmen scored centuries in a Single Inning of a first-class match - Yr. 1945-46. A #Dalian #Kr. Rameshwar Pratap Singh Kacchi Baroda, who then still a student at the #Daly College, was one of them. The others were Kamal Bhandarkar, Chandu Sarwate, M. M. Jagdale, C.K. Nayudu and B.B. Nimbalkar.

It was the #Ranji Trophy semifinal between Holkar and Mysore. With such an awesome batting line-up, obviously Mysore was expected to have it tough.

#Rameshwar was a proud member of the Holkar playing eleven when the team made #912 for eight declared, still an Indian first-class record. Holkar won that match in style and went on to clinch the final at the same ground against Baroda for its maiden Ranji title.

At the English one-act play competition held on the 29th and 30th of July, each house worked hard to present to an audience various attitudes of human nature parcelled as entertaining comedies. Each house was given 25mins where they brought live before us what happens when a man is married to a dumb wife, a sales man trying to sell a dictionary to an illiterate family, a highly strong military man who is terrified by a young girl and a man who finds life difficult after sneezing on his boss.

Appreciating Incomparable Excellence…

One of the most inimitable facets of the Appreciation Day for the Academic Session 2018-19, held on July 26, 2019, amidst pleasantly pouring showers, was the bestowing of certificates, books and awards to the students by the various mentors, panel members and the class teachers with the expressive message that the teachers play a crucial role in building the capacity of the children and youth who would grow up to be agents of dual transformation.

The tradition of appreciating each student for their unique attributes is the manifestation of the school’s belief: “Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can alone, cause it to reveal its treasures and enable mankind to benefit there from.” Baha’u’llah.

The event which was hosted by students, encapsulated the concept of lauding the spiritual nature of man which leads to the betterment of humanity. As the event progressed with prayers, the newly elected prefects of Class XI were inducted by the Head of Administration and the honourable Chief Guest, followed by the bestowing of books and certificates. Awards were given to the School Choir, followed by Music Awards; Eloquence Awards, which included eloquent delivery during Assemblies, Radio Show, Theatre Fest and Elocution. A classical dance performance by a student of Class XII enthralled the audience! The Service Awards, given to the volunteers of the BAL Service Project, to the animators and ex-students, epitomized the concept of selfless service. The Special Commendation in Sports; Award for Performing Arts; Consistent at Academics; Highest Scorers in various subjects in the Board Examination; the Robert Thomas Award for the Most Deserving Day Student; the Robert Thomas Award for Science; the Mayura Iyengar Award for Mathematics and the Narula Award for Sports, were special for the very fact that these were given to more than two to three students in each category. Some of the awards were given to more than twenty students, an evidence of the transformation experienced by them!

The Mobedzadeh award, which stands for leadership imbued with values and which is given to the student who fulfills in all possible ways the mission of the school, was given to four students! The audience, while giving a standing ovation, held back tears of joy to witness the youth being marched forth under the awning of the school flag!

The address of the Head of Administration brought to the attention of all that the class teachers had been specially asked to give away the certificates and books eulogizing their roles in the lives of students, who were also reminded that all of them wear the ties of the school and no matter what the colour of those ties, they signify the spirit of their school. The Yearbook which was to be circulated to the students was a symbol of the myriad activities conducted by the school. Mention was made of the impeccable dialogues and performances by the students who had presented the English drama, also of the students who were given a second chance to participate in Spell Bee, the presentation of the Radio Show in three different languages with ‘Unity’ as its theme, and the presentation of a novel to each student as a reminder to inculcate reading habits, also found a mention. One was reminded of the words of `Abdu'l-Bahá, "The primary, the most urgent requirement is the promotion of education. It is inconceivable that any nation should achieve prosperity and success unless this paramount, this fundamental concern is carried forward…”
