Today we celebrated the hard work, positive leadership, and dedication of Captain Sam Myers. Captain Myers has been assigned to station 19, in South Riding for approx. 9 years. Originally assigned here as a Lieutenant, he was quickly promoted to Captain and became the leader of the county wide Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Program and the associated units. Along with managing the HazMat program, he was responsible for overseeing an Engine, Tower Ladder, and Medic Unit. Station 19 has multiple moving parts. It’s true that it does take more than one person to run the station efficiently, but Captain Myers has definitely played an integral part. Captain Myers has done an outstanding job and will be greatly missed! Thank you to friends, family, surrounding companies, and senior management for coming out. We wish him the best in his new role as Captain of Recruit Training. From everyone past and present at station 19, we say thank you captain Myers!
