Homeplace on Green River, KY

Homeplace on Green River, KY Homeplace on Green River is a shared project of Adair, Green and Taylor counties, dedicated to protection and promotion of rural American culture.

Homeplace on Green River is a shared project of Adair, Green and Taylor counties and is located at 5807 New Columbia Road, Campellsville, KY 42718. The farm is being restored by volunteers and is administered by a Board of Directors representing all three counties. Homeplace is dedicated to the
protection and promotion of rural American
culture through the sustainability of agriculture and natural resources using education, conservation and the economic opporuntities of agri-tourism. Homeplace showcases the local history of Adair, Green and Taylor counties as well as that of all of Kentucky. It is maintained entirely by volunteers. Homeplace has a rich history of national, state, and community support. Since receiving its 501 (c)(3) tax free status in 2002, it has been granted over $850,000 in funding from 15 organizations and agencies. In addition to the three county governments, The Nature Conservancy, U.K. Cooperative Extension Service, TOUR Southern and Eastern Kentucky (TOURSEKY), Tebbs Bend Battlefield Association, Heartland Waterways Tourism Corridor, Kentucky Departments of Agriculture, Fish and Wildlife, and Forestry, USDA Natural Resources and Conservation Services and others are playing an active role in the restoration and operation of the farm. Funding for initial purchase of the property was provided by The Farmland Protection Program. Individuals and families have made $5,000-$10,000 gifts for projects at Homeplace including for the home and reconstruction of an early log to***co barn. The combined 800+ acres and surrounding region add to Homeplace’s strength as a potential major tourist destination. The Homeplace on Green River and adjacent Tebbs Bend/Green River Nature area owned by Taylor County are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Homeplace also borders on the historic Tebbs Bend Civil War Battlefield. Homeplace offers a living-learning-working farm that is being restored while remaining operational and 97% debt-free. Documented volunteer hours speak volumes about the dedication and commitment of its Board of Directors, partners, local colleges and universities, and many other supporters. Hi Friends, Plow Day is still scheduled for this Saturday and we are so excited to see you there! However, if the current weather prediction does indeed prove true, the plowing event will be canceled but we will be there should the rain showers give way to sunshine during mid-morning. A few other activities may be reduced too, but the majority of the fun will still be happening at Homeplace, should the weather be better than predicted.

Really enjoyed the day at plow days we loved the plow teams!!‚̧ԳŹ This was our third time going and finally the weather allowed us to enjoy all of it!! Great job guys!!
Saturday’s fall heritage festival at Homeplace drew a record crowd of more than 2,000. The weather was perfect and the program was filled with interesting and fun activities. None if it would have been possible without the volunteers from Adair FFA, Campbellsville’s Healing Place and Lindsey Wilson College Bonner Students and the many artists, crafters, exhibitors, food vendors and other attractions.
We had a great time at Fall Festival. Wonderful customers and families enjoying the day. Anyone that missed our booth can find us this fall at Market Off Main in Campbellsville and The Casey County Apple Festival. Our website is kyfarmstore.com. See you next time!
