Mending Faces

Mending Faces Mission:
Restoring hope and providing a brighter future to those whose lives are burdened by cleft lip, cleft palate and other deformities. Mending Faces provides free surgical correction for impoverished children in “developing world” countries inflicted with cleft lip and cleft palates, who otherwise would not have a chance for surgery.

Children born with these deformities are considered outcast in their community and may be unable to go to school or work. The reparative surgery that Mending Faces provides vastly improves the lives of each child by giving them the opportunity to not only become productive members of their society, with a better self-esteem, but more importantly the ability to live a healthier life.

In memory of Dr. Arnold Jayme:

Dr. Jayme has been volunteering his expertise as a Pediatrician since our inaugural mission in 2010, contributing far more than just his medical knowledge. He was compassionate, kind, and showed genuine love for all of his patients.

We will all miss his bright smile and never ending energy. Mending Faces will work to honor his memory by continuing his passion, making a life-changing difference for children with facial deformities.

"It’s hard to put into words what this week means to people. The amount of learning, interpersonal growth, appreciation, resiliency and graciousness that happens is something to behold in and of itself. The culmination of these things makes everyone better off as we actively participated in the mending of more than just faces, but the mending of lives as well." - Medical Mission Volunteer

Every few minutes a baby is born with a cleft lip/palate - a birth defect that occurs when the lip and mouth do not form properly. This makes feeding and getting proper nutrition very difficult which often leads to malnutrition, and many other health problems. Thank you to all of our donors for your generous donations to help these children.

This post is in Memory of Ellen Arellana, 1999-2020

Ellen was a Mending Faces youth volunteer who attended our 2015 medical mission in the Philippines and participated in local fundraisers. She is the daughter of Kerry Arellana, former board member and volunteer.

Ellen will be remembered for her kindness and compassion, bright smile, and the connection she had with our patients and volunteers in the Philippines. May her memory live forever in the work that we do - providing a brighter future for children.

Hi! I am on a mission to raise autism awareness through my book "Jacob the Flappin Dinosaur Goes to School". I have 8 days left in my kickstarter campaign and need your help! This important book needs to be in the hands of parents and educators across the globe. As you may know here in the US the autism rate for children is 1 in 68. That is why it is so important we educate our children about autism. And that is exactly why this book and our kickstarter campaign is so special. Please consider sharing our Kickstarter with everyone you know, pre-ordering a copy for yourself or someone you know and if you can donate to this worthy cause. Thank you for your time! Sincerly, autism mama on a mission- Holly https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jacobgoestoschool/childrens-book-about-a-dinosaur-with-autism#
A one-of-a-kind children's book about autism, friendship and acceptance that will teach your children in a fun and informative way they can understand. We need parents and educators to teach their children about autism
