WCC’s Walter and friends had a terrific time participating in a Puppy Parade at the Menlo Park VA!

Patients from the Dementia Unit were able to watch the parade from a safe distance, with dogs and trainers pausing in outdoor courtyards to wave and say hello!

Parades with dogs and Veterans are definitely the best kind of parades! 🇺🇸

Memorial Day - Remember Their Names

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance. It's a day when we honor our nation's fallen heroes who gave their lives for this country. At Warrior Canine Connection, we are proud to ensure that these brave men and women are not forgotten – today and every day.

Each WCC dog has a very special namesake. One that exemplifies bravery, commitment, patriotism, and many times, one who gave the ultimate sacrifice. In the last year we have had the privilege to honor the Service Members presented in this video - all of whom lost their life In service to our country.

Please take a moment to watch, to learn their names, and to see their faces. They are among our nation’s heroes and we are proud to honor them and always remember their names.

Is there someone you are honoring today? Please share so that we too, can remember their name.

"By having Veterans help train service dogs for fellow Veterans, they are given a purpose to focus on but at the same time they're working on their own goals in their recovery process" - Ann Spader, WCC Service Dog Training Instructor

Thank you Marcus Institute for Brain Health for shining a light on Ann's incredible work with our nation's recovering Warriors!

#FurTheLoveOfVeterans

Warrior Canine Connection is more than a partner they are part of the program. None of this is possible without the efforts of Ann Spader (Service Dog Training Instructor)!

"I love my job because not only am I able to help raise and train service dogs to help those who have so selflessly served our country but I am - or more so the dogs - are able to make an impact on a daily basis through the Mission Based Trauma Recovery training sessions that WCC provides to the MIBH patients.
By having veterans help train service dogs for fellow veterans, they are given a purpose to focus on but at the same time they working on their own goals in their recovery process. I also love that there is never a dull moment in the office. Each dog and each veteran brings something new for me to learn and grow from. Yes, I’m there to teach the veterans and train the dogs but it’s a mutually beneficial "
