Arky’s Founders Day 2020
Due to controversy from some of those in the community about the annual balloon release that we host to honor those that have been killed to gun violence, we have decided to change from the release of balloons to the release of butterflies. Arky’s World has heard your concerns about the environment, the live stock and the electrical wires. Our team moved fast and efficiently to ensure that we do not offend anyone. We have and always will be about peace. Rather those that have voiced their concerns ever show up at an Arky’s event, we will always take the high road and ensure that we do our part to keep the peace. The purchase of live butterflies was significantly more expensive then the purchase of balloons and we are open to taken any donations from those that suggested the change or anyone else that would like to assist. Thank you in advance. #LivesMatter #ArkysWorld Please share!!

Tips for coping with grief during the holidays:
Decide where you want to spend the holidays – you may want to switch up the location, or it may be of comfort to keep it the same. Either way, make a conscious decision about location.
Tips for coping with grief during the holidays:
Realize that your fear of the holidays may be worse than the reality.
Sometimes just the thought of being around happy party-goers can make your grief more noticeable. It’s hard to watch as life goes on around you while you’re still stinging from the death of your loved one. But the fear of going through the holiday season without them may be worse than the reality as you surround yourself with family, friends and others who understand what you’re going through. During the holiday season, allow yourself to enjoy “golden moments” when you can see the joy of the season peeking through the shadows of your sorrow. Your loved one would want that for you.
Daily Tips for Dealing With Grief During The Holidays:
Make an ornament, wreath, or other decoration in honor or your love one.
These stockings can be ordered and made for a small donation of 12.00 to Arky’s World.
On Tuesday Dec 10th we will be making ornaments for our love ones at our group session. Time 6:30, location: 330 North Broadway St. Blytheville, AR. Fee: FREE
Daily tip for coping with grief during the holidays:
See a counselor. Maybe you’ve been putting it off. The holidays are especially tough, so this may be the time to talk to someone.
Arky’s World provides free grief counseling to anyone who needs it
I have finally found the strength to register my baby on gunmemorial.org. Every time I tried, I just couldn’t! Still couldn’t accept that he had became one of the many thousands! Now approaching the 6 year anniversary of his death, which is this Saturday, I finally did it. It was hard and I almost deleted it, but I didn’t. You see me as strong, but I see myself as still in the process. I’m asking that all of those, that love me and/or Kortez “Arky” to click on the link and light a candle in his memory. That’s all I ask. It cost you nothing but 2 mins of your time to just show a little love in honor of my baby. Can I get 100 candles lit for Kortez by Saturday???
Lost to gun violence on December 7, 2013 in Cleveland, Ohio. Click to light a candle, post a photo, or tell the world about Kortez.
Daily Tip for coping with grief during the holidays:
Say yes to help. There will be people who want to help and may offer their support. Take them up on their offers.
Ask for help. If people aren’t offering, ask. This can be super-hard if it isn’t your style, but it is important. Asking others to help with cooking, shopping, or decorating can be a big relief.
Daily Tip For Coping With Grief During The Holidays:
4. Ignore people who want to tell you what you “should” do for the holiday. Listen to yourself, trust yourself, communicate with your family, and do what works for you.
Nightly Tip For Coping With Grief During The Holidays:
Plan ahead and communicate with the people you will spend the holidays with in advance, to make sure everyone is in agreement about traditions and plans.
Decide which traditions you want to keep.
Decide which traditions you want to change.
Create a new tradition in memory of your love one.

Tip Of The Day For Coping With Grief During The Holidays:
1. Trust That Grief Is Part of Healing
Time doesn't heal the pain associated with a loss; it's what you do with that time that matters. Grief is the process by which you heal. Experiencing the pain—rather than constantly trying to escape it—can actually help you feel better in the long-term.
So while it may be tempting to pretend the holidays don't exist—or to numb the pain with alcohol—temporarily avoiding the pain only prolongs the anguish. Eventually, the holidays will get easier, but only if you allow yourself to experience the grief of going through them without your loved one.
*PsychologyToday
People will tell you time heals or in time it gets better, but actually the more time that passes the more they are missed. Choose your words of comfort wisely
I just miss you.
