About our Foundation
The Madison Small Foundation was created as a nonprofit organization to help the local community, local efforts and causes in memory of Madison Small; who is remembered for her kindness, leadership, caring nature, friendships and outgoing personality. Madison was only 18 years old, loving her senior year at Broad Run High School and preparing to go to Virginia Tech in the Fall, when she suddenly died from meningitis in April of 2015. She was a leader in school, on the softball field and among her friends. She was a National Honor Society member, captain and 4 year starter for the Broad Run softball team, active in clubs and causes through Broad Run and well loved throughout school and the community.
Over $50,000 has already been distributed to high school graduates in Loudoun County in memory of Madison who exhibit exceptionalism in community service, school involvement and personal character. The Foundation has also supported the National Meningitis Association, local youth and high school sports programs, food banks, Loudoun Breast Health Network and other local causes. The Foundation works to share information on meningitis prevention and supports research to further battle this disease.
Money is raised through the generosity and support of the community through the Broad Run 5K Color Run, The Madison Small Memorial Golf Tournament & Dinner and other generous activities throughout the year. The Madison Small Foundation fully plans, manages and runs the Memorial Golf Tournament & Dinner in July of each year as the largest fundraiser for the Foundation.
