Family and friends spread my old friend Harvey Hastings' ashes in the mountains he so dearly loved in Wyoming near his ranch. I was so moved to have close friends Tom Lewis, Glynn Lewis and William H. King V join me along with Denise Hastings, Erin Hastings and her family members. It was a glorious day on the mountain. Harvey would have been so pleased to have us all together.
There will be a gathering on the East Coast at Peaky's Restaurant in Princess Ann on October 24th. Harveys family and friends will gather to celebrate Harvey's life.I expect many of his Isshinryu and Bando family will also be in attendance.

43rd Annual Veterans Memorial Kickboxing Tournament
Nearly one hundred years ago, in 1919, President Woodrow Wilson declared the eleventh day of November to be known as Armistice Day, in remembrance of those soldiers who lost their lives in the first World War. And, sixty years ago, in 1954, the U.S. Congress expanded the day to recognize all veterans, and changed the name to Veterans Day.
The American Bando Association extends its deepest gratitude to all of our nation's veterans, as well as those on active duty serving in our country's military. We are all touched by the dedication that our veterans have shown. They are our family members, they are our colleagues, they are our friends. Most of them we've never met, yet their acts of service and heroism have changed our lives.
On this special day, we hope that you can find some small way to honor these men and women who have been or continue to be part of the U.S. military. Take a few minutes to ask them about their experiences. Find someone you know and share withthem something about the way our Veterans have made a difference in our lives. And, as always, if you see someone you think is a veteran, take a few minutes to thank them for their service.
There are also a number of wonderful groups that provide services to our Veterans. Donating to a reputable group that serves the needs of Veterans and their families is another small way you can show your support and care. At the Veterans Memorial Kickboxing Nationals last weekend, the ABA presented a check for $1000 to the Wounded Warrior Project. Many of our Bando family members have contributed, as well, with the inspiration from our 2014 Kickboxing/Lethwei tournament directors, Leslie and Bill Darr, who have highlighted this important organizational and who have championed fundraising as part of the Kickboxing/Lethwei tournaments. If you'd like to contribute as well, you can send funds directly to the Wounded Warrior Project by clicking on the following link or copying and pasting it into your browser - https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/group-fundraising/VeteransMemorialKickboxing.
Finally, ABA salutes our members who are either veterans or are currently on active duty. We are lucky to have you as our Bando family members, and we hope for your safe return when duty requires that you spend time away from home, family, and friends. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your contributions to our Nation's good.
We're way behind, folks - please show our veterans you care. Donate online today - https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/group-fundraising/VeteransMemorialKickboxing/
