Meet Castor and Pollux. Their owner tried to give these two end tables to a local thrift store but they weren’t accepted. I’m thrilled she found me so I could help. Thanks C for donating these two pieces!
Castor and Pollux had some damage which required a bit of filling and gluing. If you look very closely at the tables now, you can still see some evidence of that damage, but then again, you probably have better things to do than stare closely at end tables.
I had lots of blue latex paint left over from previous projects but I wanted these two to be a bit darker. I experimented and added some black paint to the blue to get a darker blue, not quite navy. After painting, I top-coated the pieces with a water-based polyurethane. The handles were cleaned and sprayed gold.
I’m really pleased with how these two turned out, especially as I was concerned that their damage might be beyond my skill level. They have such a unique style which I think is highlighted by the paint. Castor and Pollux are headed to ReStore tomorrow and then hopefully to a new home soon.
