The Diversity and Inclusion Committee would like to recognize local seniors in honor of Senior Center Month during the month of September.

Jerry Illers is a San Francisco native who has taught ceramics and glass blowing in several California communities. He currently resides in Brentwood and owns Mad Potter located in Downtown Brentwood where he shares his passion for ceramics with our community.

Jerry strives to provide an art studio that is family-friendly and affordable to all. He hosts educational opportunities and regularly gives back to the community. Jerry partners with a number of local non-profits and schools including Working Wonders, Girl Scouts, The PAINT Program, Golden Hills Christian School, Adams & Bristow Middle Schools and Cornerstone Christian School.

The Mad Potter hosted World Down Syndrome Awareness Day in honor of Jerry's grandson & brought awareness to Camp Attitude, a special needs camp in Foster, OR, that provides a camping experience to families living with special needs.

Thank you, Jerry, for being an arts advocate in our community.

September is National PACE Month and this year we are celebrating 50 Years of PACE!

PACE is designed to flex around what matters most for participants and their care needs. COVID-19 highlighted the flexibility that is built into the very design of PACE. Across the country, PACE has been very successful at keeping elders safe at home during this pandemic by flexing where and how we provide care. And we are gaining more national attention every day.

PACE across the country continues to grow as well – 31 states have PACE programs that operate 272 PACE centers, as of August 2020.

CEI now serves more than 900 participants! And CEI is committed to providing access to PACE for even more East Bay seniors.

Congratulations to us all.
