Happy Birthday to both these Legends today! This year @active2030sr sadly lost two of it's members. Both of these members were actively involved with charitable organizations in their community outside of 20-30. In their memory, Santa Rosa #50 is asking everyone to make a donation to one or both charities that has been selected on each of their behalf.

Remember this can be an emotionally stressful time as well as a physically stressful time. Take time for yourself, call your loved ones, do your self care activities. Comment ways you take care of yourself! You may just inspire someone else's self care journey 😏

Here are a few ways you can protect yourself and loved ones from wildfire smoke. Try to limit your exposure to outside air, but should you need to go outside, know that not every mask can filter out fine particles.

After QUITE the election between two great candidates, we now have our National President-Elect, who was elected over the weekend. We wanted to congratulate Ashley Corbett and hear her #WhyWednesday
"One day I was flipping through the Phoenix Magazine, and I read about an event that the Scottsdale 20-30 Men’s Club had just put on. I was eager to see if there was a women’s club, and I stumbled upon VOS. I decided to interview so that I could make friends with like minded women and volunteer in my community.
As I head into my 11th year, I would say what has kept me around have been the friendships I have gained, locally, nationally, and internationally. I am truly grateful to be a part of such an impressive group of women, and having served on my club’s board and for two terms as Region 3 director. I stepped to be a leader because I feel that I bring passion, levelheaded thinking, and kindness.
I honestly can not pin point one memory as being my favorite, but if I had to choose a few, it would be our club’s wine tours, hosting convention in 2016, and experiencing an international convention!"
We're all excited to see the impact that Ashley will make over the next three years. Ashley will be the first National President from Valley of the Sun Active 20-30 Club ☀️ #BeActive

Today we have a very special #whywednesday from our new National President, Tiffani Montgomery
“I joined 20-30 after being asked to volunteer at a children’s shopping spree by Wayne Ingraham and Brandon Jewell. As a shopping spree recipient myself at the age of 10, I was inspired by the opportunity to give back to the children in my community.
I have continued to be part of Active 20-30 because I get to work alongside like-minded young professionals who want to help children while developing leadership skills.
After serving as president of my club, I knew I wanted to do more and so I decided to get involved on the national level. I’m so excited and honored to step into the National President role and lead our organization into the future. We have a lot of work to do, but this is the year of change and together we have to try new ideas, think outside the box, and continue to stay true to our traditions.
Im proud of the work we do and the impact we are making.
20-30 is not just a club it’s an International family.”
Thank you Tiffani, we’re excited for this new term and the year of change! #BeActive

We are devastated to hear the news of Mike Snow's passing. Our thoughts are with Active 20-30 of Santa Rosa #50, as well as everyone who knew Mike. He was an amazing member and part of our Active 20-30 Family and will be dearly missed.
We will provide updates on any way we can assist Mike's family. In the meantime, Santa Rosa #50 is welcoming any posts of stories or photos in Mike's memory on their post.
It is with a heavy heart we inform you that Michael Snow, an Active Member of Santa Rosa #50, passed away yesterday.
Mike was only 30 years old at the time of his passing and was taken from us far too soon. He cared deeply for our organization and made the most of his 3 years in the Club, serving as 1st Vice President and Co-Chair of Children’s Shopping Spree. To many, he was a friend and professional colleague, but to all of us, he was our brother.
We are reaching out to his family to support them in any way we can, and ask that you keep Mike and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
We welcome any photos or stories you'd like to share in Mike's memory by commenting below.

CV 85 is 86 today. Congrats Carson Valley Active 20-30 Club #85
On this Memorial Day we would like to thank all the Active International Members and 20-30 Club members who gave their lives in defense of our country. As an organization consisting of men in their 20s at the time of the Second World War, our ranks were severely impacted compared to other service organizations. About a thousand active members served during the war and over 100 made the ultimate sacrifice. During the national convention of the 20-30 Club in 1946, the first since the cessation of all combat activities of World War II, a period of remembrance was held. The celebrated Convention Bureau Stringed Ensemble with its women’s choir augmented the solemnly conducted ceremony consisting of Invocation, Unveiling of the WW2 Memorial, reading of the names of the casualties, and the playing of Taps. While the picture below shows only those on the initial plaque, many more were added. It also does not include the names of the Active International members we lost. For a comprehensive list as well as an article from our newsletter on the dedication, please click the link below.

Have you thought about getting into powerlifting but don’t know where to start? Fellow member and fitness guru Michael Snow has some advice for you!
“Powerlifting is the sport of trying to gain a 1 repetition max of 3 fundamental movements. Squat, bench press, deadlift. It’s not fancy or muscle confusion (whatever that is) but it did change my life. My major tips are to start slow and to find someone you admire in the field and ask them their advice. People love to talk about something they’re good at.
The technicals of the lifts can seem daunting. Don’t get caught up in the crazy specifics of the lifts. I’m telling you, doing an at home work out of 10 air squats to 10 push-ups or burpees for 5 minutes can leave you smoked. It’s all about intensity.
I’ve always believed in coaching so I’ve always had a lifting/ nutrition coach. When competing this was crucial. I never even won first in my weight class. I competed to see how good I was vs. how strong I used to be.
Some great resources on this sport are Mark Bell, Tony Montgomery and Ed Coan go name a few.
The cool part is there is a cultural shift that it’s not a male-dominated sport. There’s been a sharp rise to female competitors. It’s one of the most inclusive, uplifting sports I’ve encountered.
So if you want to feel better, be stronger and build the butt (build, not buy to be clear!) that would make a Kardashian jealous, stick with the big 3. Squat. Bench press, deadlift!”

Lt. Leonard Johnson was a member of the Active 20-30 Club of Corpus Christi #199 while he made a living driving a city bus. A man of principle, Leonard saw a friend walking home in the rain one day and gave her a ride for free. Someone informed on him and he was summarily discharged. After that, he decided to take a stand and fight against the Germans.
He was turned away by the Army Air Corps in August of 1939 and signed up for the Royal Canadian Air Force, completing his flight training at Minnesota University. He shipped out to Toronto in 1940 and later to England. He participated in the bombing of Cologne and for other acts of bravery as a flight commander of eight sterling bombers, was decorated with the RAF Distinguished Flying Cross by King George himself. After the US entered the war, he transferred to the US Navy Reserves. When an enemy convoy of five small, heavily armed cargo vessels was sighted near Truk, in the Central Pacific on May 5, 1944, he maneuvered his patrol bomber for a daring attack and made 14 bombing and strafing runs at perilously low altitude. Despite intense antiaircraft fire, he sank one ship and inflicted severe damage on the others. For this he was awarded the Navy Distinguished Flying Cross. He was killed in action on May 27, 1944.
While we could not find a picture of Lt. Leonard Johnson, we do have a picture of his resting place and a crew from his unit.
