Impact Schools

Impact Schools Impact Schools builds impact-driven schools and supports them to be sustainable and innovative in world's remote locations. Currently, we work in rural Nepal.
(2)

The primary objective of Impact Schools is to build impact-driven schools and support them to be sustainable and innovative in the world’s most remote locations. Our school buildings are low-cost, made with government standards to be earthquake resistance and child-friendly, and well equipped with classroom infrastructure and resources. Each school is equipped with modern solar power systems to provide electricity for computer labs and IT equipment. Each school built and supported by Impact Schools has a hostel facility for orphans and students from extremely poor and vulnerable backgrounds, who would otherwise have no means to attend schools. These disadvantaged students get free hostel facility, clothes, stationery, medical care and all other essential care from the schools. The goal of Impact-driven schools established and supported by Impact Schools is to contribute to social and economic opportunities on top of educational opportunities to impoverished communities. Thus, Impact Schools supports in establishing schools-led social entrepreneurship projects so that the community benefits and the schools become more sustainable. Some examples of such projects include goat farming, chicken farming, vegetable farming, handmade bead products and more.

Mission: To foster leadership and change among poor and disadvantaged students in remote villages in Nepal, through free or affordable quality education.

In November 2019, just before this Corona virus pandemic, Kay and Peggy, two American nurses had 2 weeks of handwashing, sanitation and first aid sessions with the students at our school, Modern Model Residential School in rural Nepal. These sessions have been so useful to our children now especially during this time of Corona pandemic. Thanks to Kay and Peggy for their support, enthusiasm and creativity in delivering these fun sessions.

Prakash Bista posted an update to their GoFundMe campaign.

Hello everyone,

I am excited to share an update to our GoFundMe campaign. Mr. Jason Kryski, our donor from Canada has finally been able to transfer a matching grant of $8,685 net (he had actually donated 13,000 Canadian dollars equivalent to 10,000 USD, but it incurred online payment fees, the administrative cost of Canadian charity involved in transferring the funds to our school in Nepal, currency exchange fees and wire transfer fees). The funds will be used to build a new elementary school building at our first school, Modern Model Residential School in Western Nepal.

Meanwhile, the funds raised from this online campaign have been used to purchase much needed solar panels, and to install a fence at the location of the proposed elementary school building and the current kindergarten and e-school building. $3200 from the campaign was used to install the fence and two iron gates, whereas
$5,000 was used to pay the first installment of the $10,700 total cost of the 4kW solar panel and battery system. The fence is meant to secure the area of the school, whereas the solar power system would provide essential power for the existing kindergarten, computer lab and a digital lab at the e-school building, a chicken farm at the school premise, and the newly proposed elementary school building.

I will update again once the construction of the elementary school building progresses.

Thank you all once again.

From Steven Patton's page: "I am humbled to announce that my wife Neda Mojaverian and I have committed to build a school next year in Nepal with Impact Schools. My friend Prakash Bista is the founder of the initiative and he's the real deal. His passion for educating the less fortunate in his home country is infectious. I'm not a philanthropic genius (or any type of genius for that matter!) but the societal ROI on this is difficult to beat, in my opinion.
I'm not posting this to bring attention to myself. My primary motivation is that you will research the great stuff this origination is doing and come to the same conclusion that we did in supporting them. In the end, it was an easy decision for us." Thank you Steven and Neda.
