Good Morning Everyone,

I hope all is well with you and your family. Today, I just want to send you a letter on behalf of our football league, FCYFL. This letter is below this message. We know that right now many of you are not focused on youth sports during these times. However, we as a program wanted to give you insight as to what our league trying to process. Be blessed and stay safe.

Marcus A. Ferguson
GSYAA Prez.

Parents:

We are writing to families who have had children play football in the FCYFL in recent years in order to update you on where we stand as a League. First of all, we hope you and your families are well in these unprecedented times. We also want you to know that we are committed to doing everything possible to have a successful tackle football season this fall.

We are in close contact with local and school officials to determine what measures we must adopt to protect players, coaches, officials and families. As you know, no final determinations have been made about when school will start or what accommodations will be required to bring kids back to school at this time. We want to assure you we will continue to collaborate with local and school officials as we move forward.

We believe that the children of Northern Virginia need football now more than ever. Success in life is about teamwork – in the family, at work and in the community. No sport or activity teaches important character lessons like dedication, resiliency and teamwork as well as football does. Kids need activity and being active, and that is even more important now after weeks of quarantine.

We are very proud that FCYFL is one of the top youth tackle football leagues in the country based on a commitment to putting kids first, ensuring all kids play, coaches’ education and certification and an emphasis on safety. We are also unique in having various levels of play – from instructional levels to the most competitive elite levels – basically travel football without the travel!

Obviously, we do not fully know what the current pandemic has in store and what government and school officials will allow in the fall. We just want you to know that we are preparing and will be prepared to have a season if that is remotely possible. Some of our member clubs have already opened their registration. Others will do so in the coming weeks. We hope that you will register to play when they do, as well as letting friends and neighbors know what they are missing and encourage them to register too.

Thank you for your past participation in this great sport. We look forward to seeing you this season.

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope you receive this email in love. During this pandemic, life as we know has shaken many families to the core. It has shaken how we function as a people. There have been those within our Panther Community who have been affected tremendously with the COVID-19 virus which has included death. Others, by the grace of God have been healed! The challenges within the school systems have affected the way our children are learning as well. It is my prayer that each of you are able to continue to stand strong for yourself and your family. There has been so much love being shared during this time and we hope that this kind of love stays forever. Be encouraged, we will come out of this! My family and I will continue to cover each of you in prayer during this time and we will come out better and stronger after this pandemic than when we walked into it. Be blessed and I look forward to seeing each of you soon!

Good Morning Everyone!

I want to take a moment and say on behalf of the GSYAA Board, thank you for all your support, love, and dedication to our program. Every family that connects with our program is truly a blessing for us and we are so grateful. Our program is continuing to grow, and we look forward to what 2020 has in store for GSYAA. This will be the last email for 2019 but before I close out, here are some notes:

- We have a 5th grade basketball team participating in the Fairfax County Youth Basketball League. If you get a moment, check out their schedule on our website and support them.

- To help improve the quality of our program, there is a survey we would like for you to fill out. This will help us to become a better program. The survey will take about 3 minutes and every survey response is anonymous. Here is the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2YDSZ6Q

Take Care and Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Good Morning Everyone!

On behalf of the GSYAA Board, I want to say thank you to every family that participated in program this year. Our program does not grow without the children who join us and the encouragement from the adults. Our program is held in high regard within Fairfax County because the tough teams we put on the field, the fans, and the hospitality displayed at home games.

Also, I want to thank everyone who came out to celebrate our kids on Saturday night. The atmosphere was awesome, and everyone was very encouraging. I had multiple conversations with the leadership at Bethlehem Baptist Church on yesterday and their hearts were filled seeing all of you fill up the Multipurpose Room.

If you have any pictures, please email them to [email protected] or tag us on Facebook and Instagram @ GSYAA. As our commissioner Chuck Martin stated at the banquet, we need to gain more volunteers. Be on the lookout for specific volunteer opportunities!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Happy Friday!

Thank you to everyone who have shown their continuous support for our program this year. We have created many memories on the field and in cheer. This past Saturday, our 115 pound team played in the championship. After working hard throughout the year, they fell short and lost 35-12. As much as we show love and encouragement to the players and coaches, we owe a special shout out to our cheerleaders who fought the cold weather.

On tomorrow, we will celebrate our football players and cheerleaders at our Annual Sports Program. There will be a meal served and trophies will be presented. The doors will open at 5:30 pm and the program will begin at 6:00 pm. We have to start on time. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow at the banquet.

This has been an amazing year of football and cheer. Each week provided excited and enthusiasm. This was our last week of the regular season and we went out with a bang! Our Anklebiters won their 3rd straight game defeating Annandale, our 100 Pound made Lee Franconia tap out, and our 115 Pound gained some momentum with a bounce back win verses Arlington. Our 80 pound scrapped and clawed but fell short against Alexandria. After 7 weeks, our program record is 14-14. This puts our percentage as a program at 50% for the regular season. On yesterday, our Lady Panthers put on an amazing showcase and represented at the NOVA Cheer Performance Day!!! Here are a few announcements...

Good Morning Everyone!

We have been blessed by the football gods for great weather this season. Also, our football games have been very entertaining! This was our last week of home games and they were exciting. Our 100 Pound is hitting on all cylinders and triumphed against American Pride, our 115 Pound lost a heartbreaker to SYA in overtime, and our 80 pound fought hard but lost to Gainesville. While on the road, our Anklebiters won their 2nd straight game with another shutout against Ft. Belvoir. After 6 weeks, our program record is 11-13. This puts our percentage as a program at 46% but the season is still not over. Here are a few notes...

* The NOVA Cheer Performance Day will take place on Sunday, October 27th at 1:00 pm. The event will be held at TC Williams High school and feature our lady panthers!!! Tickets will be $7 for adults and $3 for children 16 and under. Please see our Cheer Commissioner for more details.

Good Morning and happy Thursday!
There has been a lot of information being distributed this week, but we want to keep everyone in the loop oh the things that are happening at GSYAA. Thank you for your support, encouragement, and involvement. Our program runs strictly on volunteers and every hand that helps is appreciated. Here are some important notes:

* Picture day will be on tomorrow. By now, your coach should have informed you of what time you need to arrive. Payment for pictures can take place online or in person tomorrow. If you have more than one child and you want them to be in the same photo together, there will only be an additional $10 charge. That means instead of paying for 2 packages, you will just pay for one but add $10 to the order. That is definitely a great deal. Here is the website where you can order: https://www.prattcophotos.com/online.

* After receiving our basketball interest sign up, there will be 2 teams that GSYAA will field in county basketball for the winter. The 2 teams will be 5th grade and 8th grade. Anyone in grades 5 and under may try out for the 5th grade team and anyone in grades 6-8 can try out for the 8th grade team. Tryouts for the 5th grade team will take place the week of October 28th. We will finalize dates and let you know. Tryouts for the 8th grade team will take place the week of November 11th.

* Our Cheerleaders will be showcasing their skills at the NOVA Cheer Performance Day on Sunday, October 27 beginning at 1pm. The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 16 and under. More information will come forth next week.

Good Morning Everyone!

We had a great weekend of football. The weather was amazing and the fans showed a lot of passion. Our players played with their hearts and our cheerleaders could be heard all the way to Richmond Highway! There is nothing like playing at home and hearing the sound of good football. We had a clean sweep at home this weekend. Our 100 Pound lived up to the "game of the week" and won against Vienna, our 115 Pound pulled out another close win against Vienna, and our Anklebiters won their first game of the year with a shutout win against Gainesville. Our 80 pound lost another tough one to Manassas. Each year, we would like our program to win 70% of their games they participate in. After 4 weeks, our program record is 9-11. This puts our percentage as a program at 45% but the season is still not over. Here are a few notes...

*This week is our Homecoming week!! We need you to wear your spirit gear!!! Our cheerleaders will be doing a halftime show and there will be plenty of fish!! We will be selling more T-shirts for parents who would like to purchase some fan gear. They will be on sale so hurry and get yours. We have a limited amount so make sure you get one before it sells out!!!

*Picture Day will be on Friday evening. Please get with your coach for more information!!!

*I want to extend a huge shout out to our Thumbs Up program which helps our program with fundraising, but they do more than that. These ladies do an amazing job providing our kids with small gifts and snacks to keep our kids excited and rewarding them for their hard work!!!! Also, our concession stand staff gives their time consistently! When you get a chance, please stop past the concession stand table and thank them!!!

Good Morning Everyone!

This weekend was an awesome weekend for football. For the first time, the weather made us feel that it was actually the Fall Season. As the season heads into mid-October, it may be time to start wearing your long sleeve shirts. It will get chilly outside, especially at the morning games. Our players continue to fight no matter what, and our cheerleaders provide that great boost to keep the spirit and energy high on the field. Our 100 Pound dominated South County and our 115 Pound pulled out a win against Dulles South to provide 2 wins for our program. Our Anklebiters lost a shootout to Alexandria and out 80 pound lost a tough one to Reston. Each year, we would like our program to win 70% of their games they participate in. After 4 weeks, our program record is 6-10. This puts our percentage as a program at 38% but the season is still not over. Here are a few notes...

*Thank you for everyone who participated in the Krispy Kreme Fundraiser. The pick up date is set for Wednesday in the Cafeteria!!!

*This Saturday, our program will be selling more T-shirts for parents who would like to purchase some fan gear. They will be on sale for $20-$22 based on size. We have a limited amount so make sure you get one before it sells out!!!

*I want to extend a huge shout out to our Thumbs Up program which helps our program with fundraising, but they do more than that. These ladies do an amazing job providing our kids with small gifts and snacks to keep our kids excited and rewarding them for their hard work!!!!

*Basketball interest registration is now open. Please visit us online and sign up. You don't want to miss out!!!
