SolAmor Hospice recognizes volunteers and veterans in Bedford | New Hampshire Veterans

"We have volunteers from all walks of life, however for those patients who have served our country, there are times when what is needed is the quiet understanding that only another veteran can provide."

The hospice, a member of the “We Honor Veterans” program, held a volunteer appreciation day at its Bedford office April 12 to recognize the volunteers providing support to terminally ill patients and their families.

Michelle established The Rhode Island Hospice-Veteran's Partnership and spearheaded local efforts for Keep the Spirit of '45 ALIVE! Congratulations on your award, well deserved!

Area veteran awarded Congressional Gold Medal

"African-Americans had it rough during that time and I guess that's why I never talked much about it. It just feels good to know that our contributions are finally being recognized." says Jack Cooper after Hospice of Dayton helped him receive the Congressional Gold Medal.

John "Jack" Cooper finally got his Congressional Gold Medal on Monday. Cooper, 91, is in Hospice of Dayton.

Mary Moon folded her hands, placed them in her lap, and closed her eyes. With her gray hair pulled up into clips on the top of her head, and a white sweater wrapped around her shoulders, Moon turned her head and listened.

Hospice of Helping Hands, Inc. honored 345 Veterans in the month of November!

GLADWIN COUNTY – From Nov. 1-15, Hospice of Helping Hands Inc., conducted a total of 16 Veteran’s Celebrations in their seven-county service area and paid tribute to over 345 veterans. Services were held at local senior centers and select nursing homes.

Erwin Nine’s Hatcher shares a POW’s story

“What I am not is a hero. There were 16 million young men who volunteered for the war. They went where we were told to go and they did what they were told to do. And many of them never came back to tell their stories.”

At age 93, George Hatcher, one of the last surviving members of The Erwin Nine, the troop of World War II Army Air Corpsmen from Erwin imprisoned together in Germany, shared his story for a purpose on Wednesday.

Two Soldiers rushed to the aid of an injured man today in Washington; one the men had this to say about the event, "You realize that the guy lying in front of you needs help, that he just happened to be in the wrong place and you in the right place."

We Honor Veterans, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), invites hospices, state hospice organizations, Hospice-Veteran Partnerships and VA facilities to join a pioneering program focused on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment. By recognizing the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families, community providers, in partnership with VA staff, will learn how to accompany and guide them through their life stories toward a more peaceful ending.
