~ In the Tell Me a Story - Online Art Exhibit ~
Memorial Day is to remember and honor the men and women who have died while serving in the military. Many wear poppies to commemorate the day. Why? In the war-torn battlefields of World War I in Europe, the common red field poppy (Papaver rhoeas) was one of the first plants to reappear. Its seeds scatter in the wind and sit dormant in the ground, only germinating when the ground was disturbed. Please reflect on their sacrifice and honor their memory today.

• “Remains of the Day” by Diana Blackwell, photography, $125, 20” x16"
• “Commander Gull” by Veronica Barker-Barzel, relief, $287, 16” x 20"
• “At The Tidal Basin, Springtime In Washington, DC” by Paul Zapatka, acrylic on canvas, $300, 12” x 16”

Interested in purchasing artwork? Contact [email protected] to make arrangements. The art will be available for pick up after the gallery reopens.

“Paintings is only one of the means of my expression of my total genius, which exists when I write and when I live, when in some way or other I manifest my magic. A painting is such a minor thing compared to the magic I radiate.” —Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali was born this week in 1904. Artist Jerry DeSantis, who visited Dali’s birthplace (Figueres, Spain) last year, continues the magic of surrealism in his pieces:
• “Traveling on a Ribbon Landscape”, oil on canvas, $850, 31 x 38"
• “San Francisco”, pastel on paper, $800, 32 x 27"
• “Quay Hotel”, oil on canvas, $750, 24 x 30"

Interested in purchasing artwork? Contact [email protected] by June 10. The art will be available for pick up after the gallery reopens.

~ In the Tell Me a Story - Online Art Exhibit ~
In these visual narratives, artist Dixie Pond tells the story of dating apps - modernity's attempt at establishing romantic connection through use of technology.

Modern Romance #2 contains the repeated word "swipe" to symbolize the repetitive nature of swiping through an endless number of potential romantic partners. The recurrence of the word almost becomes mechanical, representing a certain desensitization that results from endless swiping.

Modern Romance #3 depicts sprawling flowers and a single "$WIP3" - representing a hopeful swipe and the faith that love will bloom.

Modern Romance #2, mixed media, $20, 8x10"
Modern Romance #3, ink on paper / mixed, $20, 10x8"
