Our gallery is located in the multi-culturally diverse community of Del Ray in Alexandria, Virginia. The DRA is ensuring its vitality by forming strategic partnerships with the following organizations: Potomac West Business Association, the Alexandria Convention and Visitors Association, The Avenue Partnership and the Fairfax County Office of Adult and Community Education. Special thanks to the Alexandria Commission for the Arts, the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts and the City of Alexandria for their continued support of Del Ray Artisans, a 501(c)(3) organization.

~ In the Tell Me a Story - Online Art Exhibit ~
Artist Karen J. Schmitz highlights the work of activists Homero Gomez and Raul Hernandez in this exquisitely layered mixed media piece.

In January 2020, Gomez and Hernandez were murdered in Michoacan, Mexico. These men were guardians and activists protecting Monarch Butterflies habitats from illegal logging of the pine and fir trees in which they hibernate in the Ocampo sanctuary.

The endangered Monarch is the longest migrating insect traveling from Canada and North America upward of 3,000 miles to overwinter in southwestern Mexico.

"For the Monarchs Activists: Homero Gomez & Raul Hernandez" by Karen Schmitz,
mixed media (acrylic, graphite, etc), $600, 28 x 22"

~ In the Tell Me a Story - Online Art Exhibit ~
Artist Diana Manchak creates imaginative pieces with clever details. Both these artworks have components that were wheelthrown and handbuilt.

In "Cat and Mouse" who actually has the upper hand? The cat with the trap or is the mouse "a head" at this game? (On a practical note: This piece is a lidded container with food safe glazes.)

In "Pollination / Polynation" the artist calls on us to recognize and accept our differences and welcome sharing the world with others - just like plant life that thrives on a similar basis.

Artist: Diana Manchak
Cat and Mouse, ceramics, $350, 9" D x 15" H
Pollination / Polynation, ceramics, $230, 8" D x 5.5" H

Support Del Ray Artisans in #Spring2ACTion! | Spring2ACTion

~ Save the date: Spring2ACTion 2020 is April 29 ~
Each April our community comes together to support the amazing work of Alexandria nonprofits through Spring2ACTion, hosted by ACT for Alexandria. Remember Del Ray Artisans is one of those worthy causes! Please give your support to our exhibits, programs, and outreach activities which help members of our community grow as individuals and as artists.

From April 15-29, please consider donating at spring2action.org/organizations/del-ray-artisans

Please also reach out to your networks and recommend a donation of $10+ to Del Ray Artisans nonprofit—you can help even more by officially becoming a “free agent fundraiser” for Del Ray Artisans.

Free Agent Fundraisers are a champion for the cause and typically ask 2-10 of their friends/acquaintances for support. Go to our Spring2ACTion page and click on the “Fundraise” button. If every member can recruit 10 donors, we'll be able to make a big impact in the second half of the year! Thank you for your support!

I’m ready to support Del Ray Artisans on April 29, 2020 during Spring2ACTion. Learn more about Del Ray Artisans and all the other organizations participating in #Spring2ACTion.
