Alexandria Soccer Association (ASA) has developed a model that provides an alternative to the growing inaccessibility of youth soccer by starting with a simple mission — offer the highest quality soccer programming experience at every level to every kid that wants to play.
ASA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, established in 1970 in Alexandria, Virginia. ASA operates in the City of Alexandria, Virginia, and offers soccer programs for children ages two through nineteen. Programs are intended to develop good character, mental and physical fitness, and interpersonal skills through soccer activities. Sportsmanship, social skills, and self-esteem are developed by player participation and regular interaction with volunteer and professional coaches.
Since founding our scholarship fund in 2011, we’ve provided over $500,000 of support to more than 5,000 scholarship registrants. In the past six years we’ve seen a 177% increase in overall participation from 1,800 kids annually before the creation of the scholarship program to nearly 5,000 annual participants in 2017. Individuals and small businesses in the greater Alexandria community have contributed generously to sustain the scholarship fund which now supports over 25% of our participants
