The amount of support that we’ve received from the community during the last year has been amazing. Our social hall, both inside and out, has had some great upgrades during this time including new bathrooms, new bar front, new freezers and refrigerators! Also included in these upgrades is the new outdoor pavilion, which houses the new custom tiki-bar providing frozen drinks, and will soon be a three-season area with roll up shades and stand up heaters. However, with these types of improvements and growth, we are in need of additional volunteers. If you didn’t know, our social club provides the majority of our operational funds for the fire company. We are looking for neighbors who are willing to help us improve our fire company and continue our growth. We are always looking for help in the kitchen with cooking, food prep, serving, and cleaning. This also includes bartenders and waitresses/waiters. If you’ve ever been to the Firehouse Grill, you know everything is done by volunteers and we’re looking to expand our firehouse family. The individuals who assist with the social club, may also be eligible to receive some incentives through Penn Forest Township if a certain requirement is met. If interested, please send an email to [email protected] or call (570)722-0555 and leave a message with the bartender or a voicemail. We again would like to thank everyone for their support in the past, present, and future!

Even after a working fire, volunteers are training hard at an acquired structure. We are very thankful that someone reached out about donating a residence for us to use for training over the next couple of months. It’s not everyday that we get access to a building to actually train with. Tonight members are going over hose management, VES, ventilation, and much more. We are also fortunate to have a prop donated for use that simulates fire and smoke which reacts to water being applied. Members will be spending the next few Monday’s training here weather permitting.

Incase you haven’t seen, our members took delivery of Tanker 2233 yesterday evening! Our apparatus committee met throughout 2019 and then in January 2020, we completed the pre-construction of our new pumper tanker. Photos have been posted throughout the build and we also completed the final inspection just over a month ago in Lyons, South Dakota. The project began when the Penn Forest Township Supervisors agreed to provide funds for not just one, but two apparatus that were needed in the township. Our Station #1 (District 12) was also in need of an engine and they are expecting theirs next week! We again would like to thank the Supervisors and community for the overwhelming amount of support the last few months to make this project possible. This 2020 Rosenbauer Commander Custom FX Pumper Tanker replaced our 1996 Semo/International tanker (2236). Tanker 2233 will be outfitted with equipment to match Engine 2210 to provide response options depending on manpower available to better serve Penn Forest Township and surrounding municipalities. We anticipate having the truck out all weekend for anyone who wants to see it!

A few members went out this morning to use the pump and water chute on Tanker 2233. Tanker 2233’s pump, and it’s pump layout, nearly mimic Engine 2210 which will allow quicker training and familiarizing for our members.
