The Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Providers of New York State is committed to working together to support organizations, groups and individuals that prevent and alleviate the profound personal, social and economic consequences of alcoholism and substance abuse in New York State. Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Providers of NY (ASAP) represents the interests of the largest alcoholism and substance abuse prevention, treatment, research and training providers in the country. We welcome membership from coalitions, business, organizations and individuals who support ASAP's mission.

Guiding Principles We believe that addiction impacts all aspect of society, and that: Addiction is a treatable and preventable disease. Families and individuals have the right and deserve access to quality services in their community. Prevention and Treatment services are a sound investment that save lives and strengthen families. Partnerships and collaboration are vital to the success of all our efforts New York State has the largest system of chemical dependence treatment and prevention programs in the country. We are fortunate to have a strong membership organization, the New York Association of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Providers, which represents the interests of this extensive chemical dependence service system and the interests of programs that address treatment and prevention needs related to problem gambling. We are also very fortunate that New York State has a not-for-profit organization, Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Providers of New York State, which provides valuable services to professionals working in chemical dependence and problem gambling treatment and prevention programs, health and social services professionals and the community in general focused on chemical dependence and problem gambling. Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Providers of New York State offers a variety of educational activities and state-of-the-art resources to strengthen treatment and prevention efforts in NYS and provides valuable information to persons interested in problem gambling and chemical dependence.

Mission: ASAP is a not-for-profit statewide membership association of substance abuse providers which seeks to improve the quality of life in New York State by advocating for and promoting the highest quality addiction treatment, prevention, research and training.

Recently, a study was conducted at Mansfield University in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, to explore the effectiveness of sport climbing on emotion to assess how experiential adventure therapy could be used as an enhancement tool for substance use recovery maintenance.

Our Story

ASAP is a statewide association of SUD programs/agencies, professionals, behavioral health networks, and stakeholders working to increase support for substance use disorder services, improve patient care, and support sustainable recovery.

The mission of the New York Certification Board (NYCB), a project of ASAP, is to strengthen health and human services outcomes and enhance the recovery-oriented skills and capacity of the workforce.

Classes start in the downtown Financial District area in less than a month - please visit opiny.org/finaid if you are interested!
