Boy Scouts Troop 08 Albany, GA

Boy Scouts Troop 08 Albany, GA The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes. Troop 8 was chartered by Institutional First Baptist Church in 1994.

We meet on Monday evenings 630 - 800pm at the church located on the corner of 8th Avenue and Slappey Blvd. The troop currently has 2 adult leader: Marvin Lovett, Jr. - Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster. The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness. For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.

Chris Cohilas, Dougherty County Commission Chairman

I had the distinct honor of meeting with Dougherty County High Ninth Grader and Life Scout, Troup 8, Institutional Baptist Church Albany, Lavi Lee, his grandmother and Troop Leader, this morning, to discuss his Eagle Scout Project. Lavi recently visited the Albany/Dougherty Humane Society and discovered his project was to help this organization. On this Saturday, Feb. 23rd, from 10am to 12Noon, Lavi and his scout members will be stationed at 924 West Broad Avenue, collecting donations of dog and cat food, cat litter, and animal shampoo. Their goal is to collect 1,000 pounds of unopened animal food. Let’s show Lavi and his Eagle Scout troup our support in Dougherty County by showing up Saturday and making our donations! #helpingouranimals #supportingourcommunity

Working on the roof definitely wasn't in my plans for today. Had I not volunteered to go on the roof, I wouldn't have met Monica from Texas, Brad and Cindy from Lakeland, FL, the other Brad(team leader), Josh, Bruce and several others on our team. I'm thankful for being able to share the experience with a couple of my future Eagle Scouts, Tyrese and Lavi. I really admired how everyone on the team took time to minister and invest in my guys. Truly a blessed and uplifting day of work. #samaritanspurse #scoutingiswhatwedo #doagoodturndaily
