Our "Front-Line and Center Courage" Thank You Parade Planning committee, along with Residential Program managers took a trip to one of our residences to surprise Jackie Raynor with thank you gifts. Jackie, an Administrator of Residential Services, dedicated her personal time to put together the "Front-Line and Center Courage" video featuring messages of gratitude to our staff from Center leadership. Thank you Jackie for taking the time to help with this project!

Join us in thanking our heroes!
On May 20, managers from the Center's Residential Program, Adult Services, Human Resources, Nursing, and Behavior Services decorated their cars, and split up into teams to parade all over the region to thank the staff working in our 55 residences! Staff at the houses were greeted with a parade of honking horns and cheers, as our managers delivered cookies and baskets thanking staff for all their hard work on the front lines during this difficult time. In the baskets, staff were given instructions inside to watch a Thank You video that featured messages of gratitude from leadership, thanking staff for their hard work and courage across the Center.

May is Mental Health Month!

COVID-19 has been a huge disruptor in the lives of the people we support, their families and our staff. At Center Health Care, with the help of our HIPPA compliant telehealth platform, have continued to provide quality mental health care and support in our residences and for our patients living in the community. Live face to face visits with a person’s trusted provider allows continuity and reduced risk of infection by avoiding attending an in-person visit.

Please call 518-437-5900 option # 2 to schedule a telemedicine appointment.

In April, we provided just over 400 psychiatry services and just over 1000 counseling services. We are proud to support our patients during this difficult time. Patients have been very receptive to the use of technology to be able to continue to access services. One patient indicated that she could not be happier with the ability to remain connected to her counselor during this difficult time. Another family with younger children commented that it has been easier to make the appointments now that they do not have to get to the office, and another indicated that not having to worry about arranging transportation has made it easier to attend appointments and get the help she needs. The In-Home Intensive Behavioral Health Program also continues to provide family support during this time, especially with parents faced with additional childcare, educational and behavioral needs during this time.

Tips for managing stress during this time:

-Avoid watching more news than is necessary to stay informed
-Get outdoors when possible- sit outside, go for a walk, enjoy nature
-Breathe… Take a deep breath, fill your lungs and then take a little breath on top of that! Let it out slowly and dispel that anxiety!
-Use technology to reach out to friends and family! You can be socially distant without being socially isolated!

The Center would like to recognize a team that has been the ultimate example of our staff coming together to help each other during these challenging times. This is our Food Distribution Center team, who are responsible for shopping, packaging, and delivering groceries and PPE to our residences (53 of them!)

Staff from several of our departments have taken on this task, working several hours and sometimes late nights for weeks to make sure our residents have what they need during the pandemic.

Thank you all for your incredibly hard work and commitment to our mission! Join us in thanking them for everything they have done and continue to do to help the people we support.

We are thrilled to see that the shields made in partnership with NYSID, Purchasing That Powers Employment and our research division Life Quality Solutions Incubator are helping even more members of our community! Today, shields were delivered to St. Catherine's Center for Children.

Thank you to Daniel McCoy - Albany County Executive who contacted NYSID and the Center to ask if we could provide shields to St. Catherine's.

This morning, NYSID dropped off 25 face shields and 200 face shields to St. Catherine's Center for Children in Albany. Masks and shields were delivered to St. Catherine’s Executive Director, Frank Pindiak. They were joined by Daniel McCoy - Albany County Executive and Albany County’s Commissioner of Management & Budget, Shawn Thelen.

From John Mazzariello, Senior Director of Practice Operations at Center Health Care:

Happy Nurses Week – we are having lunch this Friday to honor all our Nurses at Center Health Care. Now more than ever, your passion for our patient’s health is appreciated each and every day.

One of the best parts of my job is hearing kind words and receiving notes of praise about our staff from patients and their loved ones. It's a daily affirmation of the work we do here at the Center. Often, the encouragement and gratitude I hear about is regarding our nursing staff — both individual nurses and our nursing team. Keep up the great work and please know how much you are appreciated.

I want to offer my deepest thanks to all of you, for the amazing work you do every day to provide remarkable care under extraordinary circumstances!

Thank you for all you do for Center Health Care and for our patients!!

Thank You Jackie, Fabulous Video!!!
PLEASE SHARE TODAY and consider reading this powerful book. Now is the time to read about enduring hardship, to tolerate what life is dealing us during this challenging time. To have faith! In addition, if you are a counselor, therapist, psychologist or anyone dealing with special needs families, kindly consider reading my book and walking in the shoes of those you are treating. If you are a parent, relative or caregiver you may find similar correlations that are raw and emotional. I wrote “Waiting to Hear “Momma”: A Mother’s Memoir” about my daughter and the struggles encountered as the mother of a medically fragile child. I hope to help many survive their adversity, to let them know they are not alone. After my Barnes & Noble book signing and speaking engagement, I was asked to be a guest speaker at the Cerebral Palsy of New York State 2019 Annual Conference held at the Saratoga Hilton. Bill DeVoe, director of communications and advocacy for CP-NYS, stated “by all accounts, Lucille’s session was one of the most engaging that we offered this year. Her moving firsthand account of being a parent of a person with disabilities was an emotional reminder of the impact those in our field have on the people we serve.” “Waiting to Hear “Momma”: A Mother’s Memoir” is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble websites. Kindly email [email protected] for additional information or have your Public Relations representative inquiry about speaking arrangements.
