Recognizing UniqueSource Member Agencies for their commitment to providing employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, despite the challenges and difficulties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Today we’re highlighting the fantastic and very important work that our Members, like Keystone Blind Association (associate pictured below!), Partners In Progress, Goodwill Industries of North Central Pennsylvania, and Beaver County Association for the Blind do to keep many of our PA Rest Stops and Visitor Centers facilities clean and sanitized (according to CDC guidelines!) and grounds manicured. We are proud to help keep PA’s rest stop visitors safe and our sites beautiful!

A Study Predicts Surge In Disability Voters In 2020

:... the population that surpassed all other minority populations was people with disabilities, according to a study conducted by Rutgers University School of Management and Labor Relations."

Each year, the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) coordinates National Disability Voter Register Week during the third week of July, this year being July 15-19. Rutgers University research predicts a surge in disability voters in 2020.

Kumi Tucker WNYT reported on the "Taste NY" store operated by Liberty ARC at a new stop off the New York State Thruway between Exits 28 and 29. It's the new Living History Rest Area, which offers products from the local community. Liberty has proven success with its Liberty Fresh Market in Amsterdam, and at this new "Taste NY" store, people with disabilities can find employment and training.

NYSID held a successful "New York Day on Capitol Hill" on June 14 with the assistance of the Porter Group. Six member agencies and nine workers with disabilities spoke in support of increased job opportunities. A great time was had by all.
