Welcome Our Afghan Allies

Let us pray for those leaving Afghanistan -
"All human hearts seek lasting peace. As we live in this broken world, we uplift the sacrifice and risk to human life present in the current military withdrawal and the threat to Afghan allies and families. May the United States honor its commitment to the many Afghan allies who put their lives at grave risk to support US troops.
Honor speaks to the interrelationship of all humans. We affirm this prayer and pray for peace, protection of human lives, and harmony in the world. Amen"

A Carried Promise from Oscar Romero
"The church, with its message, and with its word, will meet a thousand obstacles, just as the river encounters boulders, rocks, and chasms. No matter; the river carries a promise: “I will be with you to the end of the ages” and “The gates of hell shall not prevail” against the will of the Lord (Matt. 28:20, Matt. 16:18)."

From today's prayers -
"You call your church to be the body of Christ. Awaken all the baptized to the gifts you provide for carrying out the work of
ministry. Where the church is divided, knit us together and restore the unity of the faith.
You receive all who come seeking a sign of grace. Make this congregation a place of hospitality for those accustomed to
rejection. To those who have felt excluded here or elsewhere, prepare us to welcome them in the name of Christ."

Portions of our Prayers from worship on Sunday -
We pray for our congregation. Deepen our resolve to use what we have to serve those in need. When we worry that we do not have enough resources for ministry, assure us of your abundance.
We pray for the church. Bless the ministries of our neighboring
congregations. Empower churches throughout the world and
encourage missionaries with global neighbors. Kindle in us a spirit of collaboration, that all people may know your loving works.
We pray for those bowed down by heavy burdens: those who are unemployed or underemployed, those unable to find affordable housing, and those without health insurance. Console those who
grieve and hear the cries of those who call to you for healing.
AMEN

Thanks to Pastor Vernon Victorson for sharing the first verse of this hymn with us during his sermon today.
"The church of Christ in every age, beset by change, but Spirit-led,
must claim and test its heritage and keep on rising from the dead."

And the final verse of the hymn -
"We have no mission but to serve in full obedience to our Lord,
to care for all, without reserve, and spread his liberating word."

Hey there neighbors - what's going on with your bells? The 2 o'clock bells are going off every 2 minutes, which is somehow not as annoying as when last night's 9 o'clock bells were going off every 2 mins. I called last night. Its my first day home in a month and I would love it if it could stop. Please?
