Almost 2 million babies are stillborn every year. That is 1 stillbirth every 16 seconds.
COVID-19-related health service disruptions could even worsen the situation, potentially adding nearly 200,000 more stillbirths over a 12-month period. To counter this trend, we need to support essential health services and increase investment in nurses and midwives.

General information

It’s estimated that nearly 20 percent of Americans suffer from some form of mental illness. It’s also believed that most of those people do not seek treatment that could help them. For many people there is still a stigma associated with mental illness that discourages them from acknowledging their condition and getting help. There are many reasons why and no simple answers. But it is also clear that broader understanding and acceptance of mental illness for what it is - a sickness - is healthy for all of us. Early diagnosis and appropriate care and treatment can go a long way toward helping people lead better lives. That’s why the Mental Health Foundation is dedicated to creating better understanding, ending stigma and helping people lead happier, healthier lives. We help build awareness through programs and initiatives that encourage people to talk about the issues surrounding good mental health and promote better policies and actions.
