The University at Albany Veterans Association intention is to assist student veterans complete their college endeavors. UAV is to become a one-stop-shop veterans resource center to ensure all student veterans can easily transition into college life and obtain their degree. We will provide resources such as office/lounge space, orientation assistance, scholarships and external points of contact to all members. Our common military service creates a comfortable environment for veterans who have recently separated from the military. We also want to create a positive attitude with the student and faculty of SUNY Albany. We will host fundraisers, cook offs, giveaways and social events to educate the public. We want to encourage communication and understanding between veterans and your typical students. As our members graduate, we all want to leave a positive impact on the school as a whole. UAlbany Veterans is apolitical and does not support or endorse any political opinion or cause.
The UAlbany Veteran Student Association have endorsed Mr. Mark Anthony Quinn and Mr. Patrick Carrol for Student Association President and Vice President (respectively). If you are a current UAlbany student it would be a huge help if you could log into your MyUalbany and cast a vote in favor of these men. There have been multiple issues regarding funding from the Student Association and it is our belief that they are the ones to fix said problems.

Attention Student Veterans!
Does your military experience help you get good grades? Do you feel like your military background is valued on campus? We are conducting a research study to find out what helps student veterans perform their best at school and what can get in the way. This study is being led by Dr. Lisa McAndrew, a psychology professor at the University at Albany, SUNY. The survey should take about 30 minutes to fill out. To thank you for your time, you can enter a drawing to win an iPad Mini (we will award one at the end of each collection period, at the beginning and end of each semester). To participate, you must be 18 or older and a student veteran.
To complete the survey, please put this URL in your internet browser:

On April 28th from 1-5 pm, the UAlbany Veterans group will be pairing up with the University Police Department and the NY State Troopers to hold a screening of the empowering film, Project 22. A film about two veterans that traveled on motorcycle around the country to talk to veterans of war and ultimately raise awareness for the 22 veterans that kill themselves each day. This is a movie that is already touching so many lives and we hope that it can inspire and motivate others to work hard and fight for the veterans that have fought overseas for us. It starts with awareness, it starts with YOU! We welcome you to come and enjoy this film in the company of many veteran friendly organizations, as well as, students, faculty, staff and veterans themselves. Thank you.
TAILGATE PARTY tonight at 530 in the SEFCU Arena parking lot come out!
As a group, we thank all those who came out in support of our Veterans Day 24 hour Flag Run/Walk as well as attending the flag raising ceremony. We are overjoyed with the motivation and patriotism that the campus showed throughout the 24 hours. Also, we thank our Veterans who sacrifice more than we can imagine, all for us to have the freedoms we have today. To all the veterans out there, you are in our hearts and minds and we shall continue to honor and remember your sacrifice and courage for the United States of America.
We are overjoyed with the motivation and patriotism that the students, faculty, staff, ROTC and fellow veterans showed throughout the 24 hours.
Bring photo's of you in uniform and drop them off at the Veteran Services Office or message them to us and we'll print them! Were putting together a veteran picture wall upstairs in the Veterans Lounge and need your pictures, current and former students welcome!
We are currently trying to get a Veterans day dinner together, how many current veteran-students would be interested in attending? #UAlbany #Veterans #UAVeterans
Come out to the podium and support the group. Well be here at the block party until 4!
Tomorrow will be the first meeting of the 2015-2016 year and is being held in the veterans lounge on the 3rd floor of the Campus Center at 3pm. We're gonna try to get board members appointed and brainstorm ideas about how to update the veterans lounge. The more people we have the better the group will be!
Email me ([email protected]) with any questions.
Change of location for the meeting tomorrow: now in Campus Center (CC) room 370. Time is from 12:30 - 1:30; drop by if you can make it, there will be pizza and drinks.
There is going to be a club Executive Board meeting on Friday, October 3rd at 12:30 for all who wish to attend. This will be your opportunity to join the club, meet the current board members, express your interest in serving on the board, and to be involved in decisions that will affect the organization for the upcoming year. The more participation we get, the more funding and opportunity we will have to help and promote veterans on campus.
Email me ([email protected]), Rob ([email protected]), or Bryce ([email protected]), comment here, or just come to the office in the campus center room 334 if you plan on attending. See you there.
Here is an early heads-up for the Veteran's Day Ceremony to be held at the flag in Collin's Circle on Friday, Nov. 7th; time to be announced. We want to try and get as many vets out as possible this year. The University is making strides to improve veteran quality of life in a big way, but the only way that can be justified is if vets step up and show support. More numbers = more services.
Don't forget to submit your application for the Michael Glover and Golf Classic scholarships offered by S.A.V.E.! Just send a letter outlining why you deserve the scholarship (include which one you are applying for) to [email protected] and someone will be in touch. Good Luck!
Hello out there! If you are currently a UAlbany student and a veteran, please help us out and like this post. We are trying hard to ID student-veterans for a big project that will help SUNY veterans across the entire system. Thanks for the help!
