⭐ Volunteer Spotlight ⭐

Stephanie has served on our Troy Branch Advisory Council for more than three years!

Stephanie goes above and beyond each time we have an event to make personalized touches to enhance each participant's experience. She made individual tags for each Running Start backpack, individual party banners for Basketball & Brews, has kept virtual meetings engaging with virtual backgrounds and was a vital piece in bringing the Capital District YMCA and Northern Rivers closer together to meet the needs of our community.

Stephanie has been instrumental at the Troy Y hosting donation drive-thru events to help our neighbors in need. She organized a Troy Strong t-shirt fundraiser last fall, helping us spread hope throughout Troy and raised funds to help us continue our social responsibility programs while our doors remain closed. Stephanie serves on multiple subcommittees, most recently the 2021 Basketball & Brews committee, keeping this Advisory Council initiative in partnership with Brown’s Brewing Co. in Troy alive for the 5th year in a row!

For this event, Stephanie prepared goodie bags for each participant, including thank you bags full of sweet treats and festive basketball party banners to hang at home! We are grateful for Stephanie’s creativity and her commitment to putting our cause in motion. Please join us in giving Stephanie a well deserved round of applause!

NEW! No more reservations for the Wellness Center!

We are thrilled to announce that starting Monday, May 3rd, we're lifting the requirement for a reservation in our Wellness Centers and on our Walking Tracks!

Reservations are still required for the pool, group exercise classes, pickleball, and basketball at this time.

Plus, starting May 15th, we will be increasing our capacity from 33% to 50%! This improvement comes after many months of data showing that YMCAs are safe!

We're so excited to welcome you back to the Y!

Mike Hamel has been a Y volunteer for over 20 years!

Mike was a key volunteer when the Greenbush branch opened its doors and his passion to help others has only increased. Charles Henson is a Troy Y Advisory Council Volunteer!

Charles was invited to join our Advisory Council in September 2019 after playing a vital piece in connecting Troy High School students at risk with valuable programming at the Capital District YMCA.

You can always count on Charles to collect supplies for Running Start, food for Basket Brigade and a slam dunk for our Annual Troy Advisory Council hosted, Basketball & Brews.

Charles has been committed to our food insecurity programming, delivering food to students and families without reliable transportation. He has also helped unload thousands of pounds of food delivered for the USDA Farmers to Families program. He is a true advocate of the Y and believes in our impact through Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.

Join us in thanking Charles for his dedication to our Y and our communities!

Is childcare still offered for a 6 year old child while parent uses facility? If so, is the time limit still 1.5 hours maximum childcare per visit?
Any plans on opening on Sunday's yet?
What did people do today for the 21' REFRESH? Started this morning with a youtube 60 minute Zumba. Jan push up challenge (25 a day) for cancer. Also doing two 30 day challenges I found on FB . One is lunges and the other is butt and gut challenge. Got a walk in on my lunchbreak then grocery shopping after work. Steps total so far 17,167. Now to pay some bills and enjoy some healthy progresso soup for dinner and continue to drink my water.
There was a virtual class with Miguel scheduled for today and it was available last night, but now it seems to be cancelled. Wish you guys could decide those things 24 hours sooner! :-) Love Miguel classes!!!!!
received the email about the BINGO but unfortunately it does not take into consideration those of us that work during the day and that is when the LIVE virtual classes are (at least 95% of them). Please reevaluate this so that ALL members can participate Thank you
I love your virtual classes as well as the videos of past ones, but why is it so hard to get the link for them (https://cdymca.y.org/virtual-ymca#/) I have clicked all over the home page and anywhere else I can think of and you cannot get to this page unless you sign up for a virtual class through the long and mostly not virtual list of scheduled activities and classes. Really not a user friendly system. Virtual classes should be part of one of the drop downs on the home page if someone is signed into the site. Or maybe a separate member services drop down in the menu at the top.
thank you Jesus
The new announcement on locker room use is a bit puzzling. What are swimmers supposed to do with boots and winter coats? Most of us leave our heavy coats etc in our cars while we swim, but it will be a lot more difficult once major snow hits. Is there any area we can use just to store our outdoor clothing. The Southern Saratoga Y seems to have a row of lockers near the family changing rooms. Would it be possible to use those?
Now that the weather is generally not good for outdoor Zumba, has anyone thought about asking Sarah to do a Zoom class. If Zumba doesn't allow it to be shown more than once, you could show it during the regular Zumba time and have everyone sign in.
Is there any way to change out of a wet swimsuit after a lap swim at Ys that now have open pools?
Any news on when or if the Bethlehem ice rink will open??
We have been going to the Y regularly now that they have reopened. We find the staff very helpful and friendly. Please fell comfortable with assuming your routine safely.
