It's Harvest Time - Are You Ready? Scripture for the Day (October 10, 2017) Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. (Luke 10:2) It's Harvest Time - Are You Ready? (excerpts by Dr. Larry Ollison) Several decades ago, deep in the Ozarks, my great-grandfather taught school and preached the Word. He was a circuit rider. Much of his education came from a series of books called The Biblical Educator. It is such a blessing for me to now have these books in my possession. At the turn of the century, the Word was being taught and people were being born into the church. Yet the popular view of prophecy by the theologians of the day was full of opinions and speculation. The Biblical Educator was very strong in its belief that Israel would never physically become a nation. In that book, the author questioned how a nation that had not been a nation for over 2,000 years could ever become a nation again, especially when they had no national currency, language, constitution, or homeland. The author then gave his opinion about what the Bible meant when it said Israel would become a nation again. He implied that spiritually, every Jew would become united in their hearts as one nation. However, it would be totally impossible for them to become a nation in their Promised Land, especially when their land was owned by their enemy, the Ottoman Turks. As history has shown, The Biblical Educator was wrong. On May 15, 1948 the nation of Israel was reborn with its own language, currency, constitution, and land. Within 50 years, the thing that seemed totally impossible with man became a reality. When my grandmother was a teenager, she saw her first automobile. During all of her youth she traveled by way of horse and wagon. Before she passed away, she saw astronauts go into outer space and men walk on the moon. From the creation of man through 6,000 years, man traveled with the assistance of animals. In one generation that changed. The Scriptures tell us that in the last days, knowledge will increase (Daniel 12:4). We are truly in the last days. My great-grandfather and grandmother did not live to see the return of Jesus. But we are 100 years closer now and much prophecy has been fulfilled. God is speaking a lot more to us in these last moments of the last days. The church has a great work to do. We are carrying the baton on the final leg of the race. What previous generations have looked toward is coming to pass. The prophetic times spoken of by our Lord and Savior, Jesus, are upon us. The time of waiting is behind and the time of action is at hand. It's time for the church to stand up and be all that Jesus prophesied the church would be - the glorious church, anointed and walking in authority. As we prepare for His return, the church needs to be doing all that Jesus commanded. We are approaching the days when every believer must walk in total victory with the love of God pouring out in such a way that people are drawn to a loving God (John 6:44; 12:32). The time is short, a large crop is in the fields, and the Lord wants every laborer to go out there and bring in the harvest (Luke 10:2).

Glorious to be born into the Christian faith and noy have to overcome false religions! Scripture for the Day (September 21, 2017) These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33) Overcoming the World What does it mean to overcome the world? What does it mean to be more than a conqueror? We have a Bible full of examples of great men and women of God who overcame (Hebrews 11). Were they just born like that or did they have to overcome? Were they just special? One of the things that I have learned over the years is that people are people. Some of the greatest insights I have received from the scriptures is when I realize that these great men or women of God of the Bible were humans just like us. They faced the same fears and thoughts of inadequacy as we do. It is when you realize that, and put yourself in their shoes, that you can start thinking like they thought and start seeing how they overcame (subdued, got the victory over, conquered). Our main battlefield is our mind. The enemy is the accuser of the brethren and he is constantly trying to convince you that you are “not” something. You are not educated enough, not smart enough, not eloquent enough, not rich enough, not called or anointed enough, and on and on He goes with all his lies. Jesus was not only the Son of God, He was the Son of Man. He had to face the same temptations and challenges that we face. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (Hebrews 4:15) Do you remember when Jesus was in the desert being tempted by Satan. The first thing that Satan said to Jesus was, “If thou be the Son of God”. He knew who Jesus was but he tried anyway to get Jesus to doubt His own calling. He does the same thing to us. If he can get us to doubt our calling, and to doubt our position in Christ, then he is halfway there to getting us to back off whatever God calls us to do. We can overcome those mental attacks the same way Jesus did. He did it with the Word. He did it by “It is written”! We overcome by the word of our testimony (Revelation 12:11)! God uses real people in the Bible to illustrate His message, not super humans. He used a shepherd boy to slay a giant. He used a murderer named Moses who was not eloquent in speech to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. He used a reluctant Gideon and a man short in stature named Zacchaeus as examples of people that overcame. He takes the foolish and common things of the world to confound the wise. You are automatically an overcomer if you believe in Jesus because you have defeated death! He has also put His Spirit in you to help you overcome the temptations you will face in this world. What you have to do is use your faith to take authority over all those demeaning accusations from the enemy and speak the Word to Satan. You are a child of God and as such you can cast down all those imaginations and take authority over everything that exalts itself over the truth of God’s Word. You are more than a conqueror which means you have the power and authority to conquer the ones that try to conquer you. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:3-5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (2 Corinthians 10:5)
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48) Salvation is an Event, Growth is Progressive I can remember like yesterday the day and time I gave my life to Jesus. I was born-again on April 15, 1982 in Washington DC in a motel room. Anybody that has experienced being born-again will never forget that transforming experience. However, what we need to realize is that when you are born-again you are a spiritual baby. You need to grow and mature just like a natural baby. Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. (1 Peter 2:1-3) Salvation is just the beginning, not the end. We were not born spiritually mature. We need the milk of the Word as a baby and then we need to move on to more substantial food like meat. It’s kind of like going from kindergarten to elementary school to middle school to high school and then to college. The sad fact of the matter is that a large portion of the Body of Christ stays at the kindergarten level and never moves on to higher education. For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. (Hebrews 5:12-13) And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? (1 Corinthians 3:1-3) There is a word that is used throughout the New Testament to describe the goal Jesus wants all of us to reach. That word is “perfect”. Now, I know that we all recoil at that word and say no one can be perfect. Hold on! Let’s look at the definition of the word “perfect”. The Greek word used for perfect is “teleios” which means complete, of full age, or mature. God has put in place a plan for all of us to receive a spiritual doctorate degree. All we have to do is follow the plan. And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: (Ephesians 4:11-13) There is a very important key in going from milk to meat. Jesus said in John 4:34 that His meat was to do the will of the Father. Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. (John 4:34) That is the key to meat. You have to do the will of the Father. It is not enough to just be a hearer of the Word. You have to be a doer because that is the only way you really learn. It’s kind of like homework. If you don’t do your homework, you fail the class. His homework is much more important though because once you do the Word, and see the results, no devil in Hell can steal it from you. It has now been elevated from a theory to a reality that is written on your heart forever and that is what brings about maturity.
