Several area artists and photographers have works in the new AAAL exhibit at the Fulton County Public Library Gallery. The art and photographs depict the theme of ‘Lake Manitou’, and are for sale. The exhibit will run through the end of September. The gallery is co-sponsored by the Library and the Akron Area Arts League.


The Akron Area Arts League (AAAL) is pleased to announce the 2018 Fourth of July Art Show scheduled during the Akron Fourth of July Festival at the Akron Community Center. To expediate check in, please submit your entry form and payment by June 25. Entries forms and fees will not be accepted at the time the art work is to be dropped off. All the information/rules and entries forms are provided in a PDF document on our website at www.akronareaarts.com


Calling Artists and Photographers!!
The AAAL theme show this year is ‘Lake Manitou’, and will be exhibited at the Fulton County Public Library Gallery starting on July 25. This gives artists and photographers several weeks to create an artwork or photo depicting beautiful Lake Manitou. The exhibit will run through September 26. The Photography group is starting up again! Tuesday, May 15 (Third Tuesday) 6 p.m. to 7:45 in Room A at the Rochester Library.


Rev. Dr. Sam Boys will be at The Heartery in Kewanna, 414 East Main St., from 2:00 to 4:00 PM to play at least one of his own didgeridoos for the public. Admission is free to all, and ALL are welcome to come hear him!


Hey everyone, I just want to let you know that Don Kegarise has an art exhibit up at the Heartland art gallery in Plymouth Indiana now through February 24th. The gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10-4.
Oh, and by the way, his wife has a painting on display at the Beacon Credit Union on Main St. in Rochester.

Receive Entries: February 7 & 8, 4 pm-7 pm each day
View show: February 14 through February 27
Awards Reception: February 22, 5:30 pm-7 pm
Release Show: March 1, 4 pm- 7 pm & March 2, 1 pm-4 pm
All entries must be original work of the entering artist: Fine Art, Photography, & Jewelry
Original work is defined as a new idea produced by one’s own imagination and not copied from any other artist or body of work.
Artists cannot enter work which has previously received an award in an LAA show.
Each artist is allowed a maximum of three entries per person.
Entries must not have any color, black and/or white only for frames and mats
Silvertones are acceptable
Artists may enter work in any class.
Each wall-hung entry must have a frame and a hanger. The only exception is “gallery-wrapped” canvas. If these canvases are unframed, the image must bleed over the edges and no staples can be exposed. The best hanging device is a wire strung between two metal eyehooks. A saw tooth hanger is acceptable, but not recommended. Art Association is not responsible for damage to artwork due to hanging device failure.
Framed work may not exceed 3 ft by 4 ft, including the frame.


All art submitted must hang for the duration of the show; even if sold.
The Logansport Art Association is not responsible for theft, loss or damage to any piece of work.
If a work is sold while on display, the LAA receives a 25% commission.
The LAA reserves the right to refuse any offensive or demeaning work.
Any work left 30 days after the release of entries, becomes the property of the LAA.
By submitting your work into the Annual Black & White Arts Show, you agree to the above terms.

Awards: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place ribbons with cash awards per category

An Invitation to Exhibit at the 23rd Annual
Art on the Avenue
September 15th 2018, Logansport Indiana
11:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Applications are due June 1st 2018

Art on the Avenue will showcase fine art, music, food and ongoing festivities on the beautiful grounds of the Little Turtle Waterway overlooking the Wabash River in downtown Logansport. AOA will be held regardless of weather. Vendors will not be allowed to remain on the festival grounds overnight, however security will be provided. We look forward to seeing you and please tell a friend!

Probably slushy.) (The Library said that if Rochester schools are closed, it is closed, so if you have doubts, check that out.)


AAAL is inviting you to enter our 4th of July poster contest! Requirements and entry form are on our website at akronareaarts.weebly.com . All the information for the contest is on these forms. Deadline to get your entry form in is February 26th by 11:59 pm. It is free to enter for members. If you are a non-member, all you have to do is become a member for $20. The winner will be one of our best of shows with a cash prize of $200. Good Luck!

The AAAL encourages personal expression in the arts and provides opportunities for increased appreciation of the arts. All those living within a 15 mile radius of Akron, Indiana are in our service area and all are encouraged to participate in the AAAL activities. This area includes Rochester, Fulton, Denver, Roann, Laketon, North Manchester, Silver Lake, Mentone, Talma and Tippecanoe among others. These communities are in five counties; Fulton, Wabash, Kosciusko, Miami and Marshall.
