Benedictine Living Community of Ada’s priority is and has been the health and safety of our residents, especially during this time of coronavirus. On July 10, the Minnesota Department of Health issued guidance on allowing essential caregivers into long term care communities. This guidance represents the next interim step in encouraging safe and responsible visitation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although we are all excited about what this means for our residents’ health and wellbeing, Benedictine living Community of Ada has just begun to review the information that was provided. We ask for your patience as we begin to create the policies and procedures that are required in order to bring essential caregivers into our community safely.

Be assured that we are working on those details and will share them as soon as possible. We are required to develop a plan that addresses many different requirements. Please give us the time to create a plan that meets the needs of all and keeps all our residents safe and healthy. As the virus is still being transmitted throughout our state, please note that we may need to change options based on a resident’s status with COVID-19 and the overall status of COVID-19 on our campus.

In the meantime, we encourage you to schedule an outside visit or a virtual visit with your loved one.

Our BLC Ada family has extra heavy hearts this week, as we lost one of our culinary staff on Saturday. Brandie Bosworth, was an outgoing, hospitable, thoughtful team member and would do anything to make anyone who crossed her path feel extra special. She will be dearly missed, as will her daughter Cailie who was one of our volunteers. Please keep Cailie, their loved ones, and our BLC Ada family in your thoughts and prayers this week.

Hospice of the Red River Valley is offering a free educational program for adults who have recently experienced the death of a loved one in Ada. How to Help a Grieving Friend is a free class for adults. When a friend loses a loved one through death, we struggle to know what to do. Working through grief involves accepting the loss, experiencing the pain of that loss, and creating a different bond or relationship with the person you have lost. This presentation offers attendees ways to help a friend who has experienced the loss of a loved one. This class is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required one week prior to the class date. Ada, Minn. • Monday, Sept. 24 from 6:30-8 p.m. • Grace Lutheran Church, 110 3rd Ave. E., Ada • Pre-registration required by Sept. 17
