The Acoma Learning Center is a place for all ages and open to the surrounding communities. The Learning Center is dedicated to provide quality materials and services in a relaxed atmosphere to accommodate the educational, informational, and the learning need of the community. We have come long way since our brown library building in front of the Administration Office’s in the 1970 and 80’s, to old snack bar in the EDA building in the late 90’s till the beginning of this year. In June 2007 is when the planning for a new library began. A Library was not in existence for a few years in the pueblo till a few dedicated people actually did something about it. So Thank you to all who had brought the program back and we will continue to keep it on track so it doesn't lose its identity again. It progressed from a small one room facility to a modernized building with a computer lab, two study rooms and bathroom access. We invite everyone to come in and visit. Back in March 2020, we had initially planned to do waffle gardens at the old village. Due to COVID-19, we had to rethink the best approach to accomplish our planting project. For the health and safety of our students we brought the project to their homes. So stay tuned, pictures will be posted.

Aaron Lowden, Director of the Ancestral Lands-Acoma program provided all the necessary materials for our “At Home Garden Sets”. Thank you Aaron for supporting our children and their projects. 🙏🏽

In partnership with the Acoma Leadership Development Initiative program, Ancestral Lands Program, and the IAIA Land Grants Program, we are pleased to announce our Niutemahgu Project is up and running. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we had to change the structure of our farming project. Since we cannot implement our plan in the old village, we brought it home to our students.

The Niu te mah gu' (It will sprout) Project w/Acoma Leadership Development Initiative (ALDI) Is an afterschool agricultural programmed geared toward reestablishing the traditional waffle gardens within the San Estevan del Rey Mission - Convento Courtyard. The overall purpose is to engage the youth in understanding the cultural and traditional significance of Acoma farming.

Stay tuned to pictures.
